    This excellent 5 day open water dive course is a great way to learn to dive and explore the magnificent underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef.

    Tour Description

    Cairns Dive Centre has been delivering quality service and an unforgettable experience for customers for over 30 years.

    Taught to an international standard by their experienced and professional staff, the knowledge and experience you gain on this course will allow you to dive all over the world.

    The course includes two days of pool and theory work and three days onboard the M.V. Kangaroo Explorer, so you’ll have plenty of time to practice your new skills while diving the Great Barrier Reef.

    Day 1

    8.00am – Free pick up from city accommodation
    9.15am – Theory lectures
    12.00pm – Lunch break and medical examination
    1.00pm – Swim test and pool training
    4.30pm – Return to your accommodation

    Day 2

    8.00am – Free pick up from city accommodation
    8.15am – Pool training
    12.00pm – Lunch break
    1.00pm – Theory lectures
    4.30pm – Return to your accommodation

    6.45am – Free pick up from city accommodation
    7.30am – Sail aboard M.V. Kangaroo Explorer to the outer Great Barrier Reef, via Fitzroy Island
    9.45am – Arrive at first dive site
    11.00am – Lunch
    12.30pm – First training dive session
    2.30pm – Transfer to second reef dive site
    4.00pm – Second training dive session
    6.00pm – Dinner onboard

    7.30am – Sail to your next dive site

    No refund if dives not completed.

    Student may have to have an Australian Standards (AS4005.1) Dive Medical (if they are over 45 years old, or exceed the BMI index requirement or have any pre existing medical issues. It can be organised on the first day of their course at a cost of approximately $60) and they must be able to pass a 200 metre swim test.

    Anyone with asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, any major heart or lung problems and pregnancy may not be able to dive; please contact Dive Centre before booking.

    All courses are taught in English, however manuals and exams are available in other languages.
