    The underwater world is a fascinating place to explore – colourful corals, gentle giants, mesmerising shoaling fish, it’s something that needs to be seen to be believed.

    And the best way to get in amongst it is to complete your open water dive course – a globally recognised certification that allows you to scuba dive all over the world.

    So why not complete it with the awesome team of Byron Bay Dive Centre – training in their heated pool and completing your open water dives at Julian Rocks, one of Australias top rated dive sites?

    You’ll spend 3 days under the supervision of an experienced and qualified dive instructor who will teach you all the skills needed to be a confident and competent scuba diver – from how to read dive tables to the ins and outs of your kit.

    If you’re pushed for time on your travels you also complete your theory modules online before your arrival – so you can spend more time scuba diving and enjoying Byron Bay!

    At the end of your training you’ll be a certified open water diver, allowing you to dive all over the world.

    A dive medical is not compulsory in New South Wales however there are some medical conditions that may prevent you participating in a scuba dive these include the following:

    Lung damage or disorders including a history of asthma or recent congestion
    Heart disorders
    High blood pressure
    Diabetes and epilepsy
    Ear disorders and damage

    What to Bring:

    Extra costs:Approx $77.00 for dive medical.

    course starts every Tuesday and Friday + 1 weekend course per month (8am- 4pm**).

    *To begin your online training you will need to create a diver profile, once you have done this we will be able to open up access for you to begin your training. Please follow the steps below:

    - Goto www.divessi.com

    - Click on the "MYSSI" tab, then click "LOGIN / REGISTER"

    - You will need to fill in all your personal details in order to create your profile.

    - Under select your dive centre please choose "Byron Bay Dive Centre"

    - Once you have completed this process you will need to phone the Byron Bay Dive Centre on +61266858333 to notify us and we will be able to open up access for you.

    Once you receive this access you will be able to begin the theory component of your course. Please allow 4 - 5 hours to complete this training in one session, alternatively you may log out at any time and complete the theory in stages. Please be aware that failure to complete this theory before starting your course may result in your exclusion without refund from the course.

    It is also your responsibility to load a passport style photo onto your diver profile as certifications cannot be issued without one.

    Please also note that any and all cancellations to an Open Water Course will incur a $75.00 non refundable deposit.

    -day cancellation policy. This means that if you need to cancel or change a booking for any reason, we need to know 7 days before the activity is due to commence. If cancellation or change is made after that time, we charge a 100% cancellation fee. If this is a problem, please contact us immediately.
