    Cairns is the scuba dive capital of Australia and the perfect place to complete your open water dive certification during your time down under.

    Exploring the underwater world is truly magical – from colourful coral gardens to inquisitive marine life it’s something you have to experience to fully appreciate!

    Throughout the course you’ll learn everything you need to be a confident and competent scuba diver – from how to gear up you kit and do pre dive buddy checks through to learning dive tables and how to control your buoyancy.

    Not only will you have an awesome time learning to scuba dive but you’ll also leave with a world recognised certification, which allows you to dive all over the globe.

    This 5 day open water dive course with our buddies at Pro Dive Cairns takes things one step further and also combines your course with an incredible 3 day, 2 night dive live aboard out on the Great Barrier Reef! This means as well as doing your qualifying open water dives on the Barrier Reef you’ll get to enjoy a further 5 fun dives on the reef too…one of which is a night dive!

    It’s perfect for those who really want to make the most of their new skills and explore some of the amazing dive sites that Australias biggest natural wonder has to offer.

    MEDICAL INFORMATION: Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. All Students must read the ‘Entry Level Student Diver Medical Declaration Form’. You will be required to obtain a dive medical certificate if you answer “yes” to any of the questions on the medical declaration – The dive medical must be completed PRIOR to starting the course and must be valid within 90 days of commencing the course.

    Guests: 32 passengers on the liveaboard. Maximum 8Â students per dive instructor

    Whats Included: 9 Dives, PADI Open Water Certificate, PADI Open Water Manual (various languages), 2 passport photos, accommodation transfers, all dive equipment, log book, dive insurance, all accommodation (twin share) and meals while on board.

    Day 3, 4, and 5 are spent onboard one of our vessels out on the Great Barrier Reef. Whilst on the reef you take part in your 4 training/qualifying dives, which completes your PADI Open Water certification. After this you are able to enjoy 5 more dives as a recreational diver, one of which is a night dive guided by your instructor. These dives on the Great Barrier Reef will be truly spectacular and the highlight of your course. On your return to Cairns, passengers and crew get together in a local restaurant to celebrate the conclusion of your trip.

    What to Bring: 2 x towels, swimmers, toiletries, comfortable clothing, warm jacket or jumper for cooler evenings

    Course Requirements
    Ability to swim - 200m (or 300m with mask, fins and snorkel) and tread water (float) for 10 minutes. Minimum age 12 years (no maximum age)Â

    *Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. You will be required to obtain a dive medical certificate if you answer “yes” to any of the questions on the entry level student diver medical declaration (available on our website under “Forms”). If you do require a dive medical, it must be obtained prior to commencing the course and must not be more than 90 days old when you start with us. If you wait until arrival into Cairns, your medical can be done at the ‘Cairns 24 hour Medical Centre’ before 8:00pm most days – they charge AU$77.00 per person and no appointment is necessary.

    3 day/ 2 night live aboard departs: Every day except Tue at 7.00 am

    3 day/ 2 night liveaboard returns: At 4.00 pm

    Note: Accommodation transfers are included (Cairns city to Northern Beaches as far as Palm Cove)

    Extras: AU$65Â Reef taxes, port departure tax and admin fees. This fee consists of a $18.00 Government Environmental Charge as well as a Port Departure Tax and administration charges. This charge is applicable to all passengers travelling out on the 3 day 2 night Llveaboard dive trip and all dive courses combining the 3 day trip

    Everyone will be required to fill out a Medical Waiver Release and Indemnity Deed onboard the vessel
