Day 1: Arrive in Medan & Meet The Group

Welcome to Sumatra! You’re about to embark on a journey of a lifetime. Arrive in Medan, the capital of North Sumatra, and head to your accommodation. Here you can meet your guide and your group, who will be your travel family for the next 26 days. Enjoy a welcome dinner and some cocktails to get to know each other, and get ready for an epic start to your adventure.

Day 2: Explore Bukit Lawang

It’s up and out nice and early today as you head into the wilderness of Bukit Lawang. A hidden paradise in the heart of Sumatra, drop off your bags and enjoy a quick bite before diving into the BatCave for an inspiring experience. These incredible nocturnal creatures are an absolute must see here in Sumatra – marvel as they fly far above you. Then, enjoy some dinner and drinks as you watch a magical sunset, and head out for your first local night out.

Day 3: Orangutan Trekking & River Tubing

The early rise this morning will be more than worth it. Get ready for a trek through the rainforest to spot the local wildlife. Sumatra is well known for its vast diversity of jungle animals, including monkeys, tropical birds, and the most famous of all, wild orangutans! Keep your eyes peeled, because you never know when one will be swinging through the trees above you. Enjoy an incredible lunch in the heart of the rainforest and relax surrounded by complete lushness. After that, it’s time to hit the river – tube your way down the flowing water straight to your hotel doorstop. What a way to travel!

Day 4: Fly To Padang

Today’s a travel day, so you can take it easy. Catch a flight to Padang City, a coastal location surrounded by green hills, with plenty of gorgeous beaches to roam. Recover from your couple of busy days as you relax in the chilled out city, soak up some sun, and explore the streets and local markets. Watch a magical sunset over the nature surrounded urban landscape and get ready for another few epic days ahead of you.

Day 5: Mentawai Village Experience

Another early morning that’s more than worth the second cup of coffee. Get ready for a very unique and cherished experience, as you journey into the heart of Mentawai to meet with local families in a traditional village. Immerse yourself in the rich culture of Sumatra, enjoy a hearty lunch with the local families, explore their farms, and partake in their unique traditions. It’s an experience like no other. You’ll be warmly welcomed by your host family and settle into traditional huts for accommodation. Learn all about sustainable farming and their agricultural heritage and visit the local market. At the end of an extraordinary day, enjoy games, beers, and new friends as you reminisce on the incredible time you’ve already had.

Day 6: Experience Mentawai

Wake up to the noise of the surrounding nature in the most wholesome way imaginable. Today is all about taking in the local culture of your Mentawai homestay village, relaxing in a traditional house called an ‘Uma’. Here you’ll learn some unforgettable, and useful, skills as you go foraging and hunting, and visit the village’s Shaman for some incredibly insightful chats. Learn the wisdom of the indigenous tribe, surrounded by nature, taking in this incredibly spiritual experience.

Day 7: Padang Beach Day

After an incredible stay in a jungle village, today you’ll be heading to the southern coast of Padang. Here, you’ll get to stay in a cool traditional fishing village in rustic beach huts, for another authentic and spectacular homestay. Placed right on the waterfront, your time here is for chilling out, embracing the island lifestyle, and enjoying some live music around the campfire. Soak up the magic of the sunset and stars, because you’re in paradise.

Day 8: Island Hopping & Turtle Volunteer Project

With so much incredible marine life thriving in the area of Padang, it wouldn’t be right to visit here without going for an epic island hopping trip! Get your snorkelling mask ready and swim amongst beautiful coral and adorable turtles. Nemo Point, Turtle Point, and Snake Island are all some famous spots you’ll get to experience first hand. After an adventurous morning and some down time on the scenic beach, head to a turtle volunteer project where you’ll get to release turtles back into the ocean! A wonderful experience. Learn about the importance of turtle conservation and what Sumatra is doing to help the population. This evening, have a dance on the beach with a cocktail in hand, enjoying your last night in Sumatra.

Day 9: Welcome to Bali

You’ll be saying farewell to Sumatra’s incredible hospitality and natural beauty, but the adventure is not over yet. It’s time to go to Bali! The most popular Indonesian Island, and you’ll soon find out why. Head straight into Canggu where your accommodation for the next few nights is located, and check out the local area. Explore amazing beaches with epic beach bars and water activities. Head out for an Acai Bowl, a delicious and healthy favourite in the area. Grab a cocktail from the famous Finn’s Beach Bar, or just relax by the pool. You’ll also have a few new travel mates joining you for the next part of your journey, so it’s a fun night of making new friends and getting to know this awesome part of Bali.

Day 10: Explore Bali’s Temples

Today, head out to explore two of Bali’s most famous temples. First head to Tanah Lot, set on a craggy rock formation in the sea, overlooking the epic crashing waves that Bali is famous for. Then make your way to the Royal Temple of Taman Ayun, and marvel at the distinct architecture. In the evening you’ll travel back to Canggu and catch an amazing sunset before enjoying the nightlife that Bali is known for.

Day 11: Kuta Surf Lesson

Surf’s up! Today it’s time to hit the beach and learn the art of catching a wave. Meet with awesome local instructors on the stunning Kuta Beach, grab a board, and learn how to stand as the wave rolls you in. Following your fun but tiring lesson, enjoy a chilled out afternoon where you can grab a lounge chair on one of many relaxing beaches. Watch the sunset and enjoy some cocktails on the beach before heading out for a new adventure in the morning.

Day 12: Travel to Ubud

Welcome to Ubud, the bohemian jungle town in the centre of Bali. On the way, visit some beautiful waterfalls with the chance to hop in and cool off, and take in the gorgeous surroundings. Then head into Ubud town, check into your awesome accommodation, and visit one of Bali’s coolest live music destinations to spend the night singing, dancing, and making awesome memories.

Day 13: Cooking Class & Monkey Forest

Today will be a wonderfully unique experience, joining a cooking class with a local family learning the secrets of Bali’s most famous dishes. First things first, head to the local food markets where you’ll observe the incredible array of fresh food that you’ll be using in your class. Then, head back to your family guide’s village and dig into some delicious cooking. Later in the day, you’ll be meeting Ubud’s cheekiest locals at the sacred monkey forest. Surrounded by lush trees and incredible temples, it is believed that the hundreds of monkeys living here are protecting the ancient temples inside. Be warned though – while they may be sacred, they’ll also steal your sunnies if they get the chance!

Day 14: Tegalalang Rice Terraces

This morning, wander through the iconic scenic rice terraces of Tegalalang, a truly picturesque landscape. Trek through valleys and stop off at one of the swings overlooking the green ripples. An epic photo opportunity! These beautiful formations still play an important role in how the locals live their daily life.  Head to Kintamani lookout, which holds incredible views of the active volcano Mt. Batur. Then it’s time to explore a colourful and vibrant local market for some souvenir shopping and a delicious dinner.

Day 15: Travel to the Gili Islands

It’s island time! Catch the ferry over to the beautiful backpacker haven that is Gili Trawangan, more commonly known as Gili T. Here your accommodation will be in the tropical heart of the island, enjoying serenity and laid back vibes. Enjoy a relaxed afternoon around the pool with a drink, or head to one of the many beaches and explore. Catch a beautiful sunset before heading out for dinner and drinks, then head to one of many epic beachside bars to enjoy the thriving Gili T nightlife.

Day 16: Island Hopping Adventure

Enjoy the day hopping from one beautiful island to another as you explore the three Gili Islands. Home to some of the best snorkel spots and picture perfect beaches, Gili Meno and Gili Air are an absolute treat. See stunning coral, vibrant fish, turtles, and more. Enjoy a fresh lunch on the beach, an afternoon of more island hopping, then head back to Gili T for another night on the town.

Day 17: Bike around Gili T

Did you know that Gili T has no cars? The only way to get around the island is by pushbike, and today you’ll be making the most of it. Explore the island’s different beaches, join fun activities, and hike up to the only lookout point on the island for a gorgeous sunset. Enjoy one last Gili T beach party the best way you know how, and get ready for more epic destinations.

Day 18: Travel to Lombok

Another day, another adventure. Today you’ll be heading east towards Lombok, the sister island of Bali. It’s straight to the beach, of course, as you enjoy a scenic ride to Kuta Lombok, a charming surf town. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool, strolling on the beach, and exploring the town.

Day 19: Visit Sasak Village

Begin the day by fully embracing the local customs and cultures of Lombok with a visit to the Sasak Village. Delve into the village life and discover from local guides about the traditional and intricate weaving techniques passed down for generations. Then in the afternoon, go out and explore some of Lombok’s incredible waterfalls, only accessible by a hike through the jungle.

Day 20: Lombok Beach Day

Today is all about admiring the pristine beaches found on Lombok. Discover two secluded beaches along the southern coastline and take in the tranquil surroundings. Soak up some sun, enjoy playing around in the crystal clear waters, and meet some friendly locals.

Day 21: Travel to Sumbawa

Today is a travel day, so you can take it easy. Hop on a bus and then a ferry to your next destination, Sumbawa Island, and check into your beach front bungalow accommodation. An absolute dream, enjoy the peaceful afternoon on the beach and take it all in.

Day 22: Moyo Island Day Trip

Head out for the day to the tranquil and almost uninhabited Moyo Island. Venture deep into the heart of the island where you’ll meet local guides who will show you some hidden gems nestled deep within the jungle. Take a refreshing dip in the pristine, untouched waterfalls of Moyo, followed by a delicious lunch on the beach. As the day comes to an end, take in the mesmerising sunset views while sailing back to Sumbawa.

Day 23: Liveaboard Adventure

You get to embark on an unforgettable excursion today, as you hop on a 3 day 2 night liveaboard and island hopping trip! This is an incredibly exclusive experience and will be an absolute highlight of your time in Indonesia. You’ll be travelling in a traditional wooden boat made comfortable for the journey, with dorm style spaces to sleep and traditional showers. Totally unique! First up on the agenda is Satonda Island, where you can snorkel in the incredible bay. Check out the salt lake crater and enjoy a delicious local meal on deck, as the sun sets over a beautiful horizon. Fall asleep under the stars as the boat continues to sail through the night.

Day 24: Komodo Island Hopping

Rise and shine, it’s island hopping time. Wake up to incredible views of the mountainous Komodo National Park, surrounded by crystal clear waters. First up today, sail to Manta Point, home to families of Manta Rays which you get to snorkel with. Though quite large, Manta Rays are some of the friendliest creatures in the marine world and are thriving in the wild here. Then, it’s time to visit Pink Beach, aptly named after the pastel pink coloured sands. An unforgettable sight, laze on the cotton candy coloured beach before trekking to one of Indonesia’s most famous viewpoints on Padar Island. Today is all about unbeatable views. Enjoy your last night on the boat with another dinner on deck, some drinks, the sound of waves surrounding you and a pollution free night sky above you. Absolute bliss.

Day 25: Komodo Dragons

Today it’ll feel like you’ve gone back in time, as you come face to face with modern day dinosaurs – the Komodo Dragon! Meet awesome local guides who will lead you on an expedition to meet these prehistoric creatures. Take an educational tour of the island, one of five where the dragons inhabit, and learn all about these majestic reptiles. Finally, your liveaboard adventure is coming to an end, so say goodbye to your captain and crew before hopping off in Labuan Bajo, Flores. Spend the night in a luxurious resort and enjoy a farewell group dinner and drinks as you reminisce about the incredible journey you’ve had.

Do I need to reconfirm my bookings?

All bookings must be reconfirmed 48 hours in advance by contacting your tour provider directly using the contact information listed on your tour voucher.

What should I do if my trip is cancelled due to bad weather?

You may either re-schedule directly with the supplier or you can email our support team on [email protected] and include your voucher number, name of product you booked, planned departure date and your contact details. Once you’ve emailed us, you can drop us a line at +61 2 5633 1149.

Do you book tours with flexible dates? If so, how long are they valid for?

Yes, we do have open dated/flexible tickets available. Most tour vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of purchase, however please be aware that you may be subject to supplier price fluctuations. All ticket validity is specified on the tour voucher. If you are unsure of the validity of your voucher, just ask one of our wonderful staff.

What do I do if I need help with an existing booking?

Some tours have extra costs and you should be aware that there may be added expenses. These expenses will differ for each service provider, but some of the more usual extras are: EMC tax, stinger suit hire, luggage storage, sleeping bag hire, linen hire, national park fee, food, insurance, accommodation, equipment hire, petrol levy, etc. We will alert you to extra costs to the extent reasonably practicable. However, you must also check with each individual service provider when you re-confirm your booking.

Do I need travel insurance?

We endorse the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that all travellers take out travel insurance. If you already have travel insurance, please understand that it is your responsibility to ensure that your travel insurance covers you for all of the adventure style travel you have booked with us.

Do you offer payment plans?

Absolutely, we understand that paying off a big trip in one go isn’t always that easy. We offer flexible payment plans to suit all types of travellers with zero interest or fee’s (minimum $100AUD deposit required).

How do I know if my trip is BYO?

Most tour vouchers will specify if your trip is BYO however we recommend asking your tour provider if your trip is BYO when you reconfirm your booking 48 hours prior to departure.
