Your adventure begins at Nomads Airlie Beach Backpackers.

Your hostel is just a short walk from the Greyhound & Premier Bus Stop or your nearest Airport to fly into is Proserpine Airport (PPP). Please arrive at reception to check in after 1PM and before 9PM on the first day of your adventure. You will need to be up bright and early today. Please don’t forget to eat brekkie first and make sure you bring your travel voucher with you to give to your guide.

Your tour guide will pick you up first thing and transfer you to the marina where you will meet the rest of your group. Pick up times and location will be clearly printed on your vouchers. Don’t worry, because it’s just a short walk from your hostel.

Shortly after checking in at The Marina, you will jump aboard one of the fastest boats in the Whitsundays, ‘Ocean Rafting’. This vessel is a super-safe, semi-rigid inflatable raft, capable of great speeds. This provides you with a fun and swift journey out to the islands, maximising your island, snorkel, and adventure time.

Your guide will take you to see the best of what the Whitsundays has to offer. Starting off with an epic guided bushwalk experience, Ocean Rafting is the only company to have direct access to all of the famous Hill Inlet. Here you will get roughly 2 hours exploring both ends of the world famous 7km, Whitehaven Beach! You definitely don’t want to forget your camera for this one.

Next stop will be over an hour snorkelling at Dumbell Island, Border Island, or a secret snorkel spot. Here, you can enjoy the unreal coral on the fringing reefs as well as loads of incredible marine life such as turtles, tropical fish, and giant clams!

By the end of the day, you will have ticked off every Whitsundays highlight on the ol’ bucket list, and you’ll be sure to have a camera stacked full of insta-ready snaps for the world to see! After your tour, you will be transported back to your hostel in the afternoon so take a shower and chill out for a bit, or get ready to explore the epic nightlife Airlie Beach has to offer.

We’d recommend starting your night off at The Shed Bar (connected to your hostel), followed by a few at Magnums Bar (great live music here and cheap jugs of beer for Happy Hour). If you fancy going all out, then make sure to stop off at Mama Africa’s and Boom nightclubs, which are both walking distance from your hostel!

Today is a free day where you will have total control on how you spend it. We’d recommend making the most of this day to explore what Airlie Beach has to offer.

If you want a nice relaxing day, then look no further than the epic Airlie Beach Lagoon just a stone’s throw away from your hostel. You won’t find a better place to chill out and sunbathe than this spot. You will no doubt bump into some of the legends you met the night before at the local bars, as it is Airlie’s number #1 hang out spot.

If you are feeling like something a bit more adventurous, then why not head down to Abel Point Marina and rent a fishing rod for as little as $10 a day, grab some bait and enjoy an epic day of fishing.

Today is a once-in-a-lifetime sort of day. It will start with getting picked up from the designated meeting point and a short drive out to a local air strip where you will check in for your 60-minute flight over The Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef. Flight times and pick up will be included on your ticket so don’t forget to bring this with you and double check it the night before.

Shortly after arriving, you will wait in the departure lounge where you will be briefed on basic safety precautions before making your way out onto the airstrip where you will board your flight (window seat is guaranteed). Pop on your headphones and pull out your camera as you will have one of the most incredible hours of your life.

Firstly, you will take off and head east over Airlie Beach as you make your way out to the 74 tropical islands (don’t forget to look out for the Ocean Rafting guys below you!). You will see the insane tropical waters surrounding Airlie and through the winter months, you might even get lucky and spot the migrating humpback whales below you!

Upon arriving at Whitsunday Island National Park, you will do an awesome fly over Whitehaven Beach and the Hill Inlet before heading out to the barrier reef. Here, you can spot turtles and the beautiful coral formations such as the amazing ‘Heart Reef’.

An hour is more than enough time to see these incredible places from above. At this point you will have explored these islands from every perspective. On the surface, underwater, and from the sky, see the Whitsundays right!

After your flight is over, you will head back to your hostel for your final night’s accommodation at Nomads. Make the most of your final afternoon by hitting up the local shops or getting ready for a night out on the town!
