Your Budget Sailing package begins at Nomads Airlie Beach Backpackers.

Your hostel is just a short walk from the Greyhound & Premier Bus Stop or your nearest Airport to fly into is Proserpine Airport (PPP) – Please arrive at reception to check in after 1PM and before 9PM on the first day of your adventure. You will need to be up bright and early today, so don’t forget to eat brekkie first as this is not included on Day 1.

Make sure you bring your travel voucher with you when you check in for your boat trip so they can verify your booking number!

You will need to meet at your Whitsundays check in office reception first thing (the details will be on your tour vouchers with what to bring and where to meet) here you will be checked in and given a basic safety briefing. Please be advised your boat trip will depart subject to the tides so departure time may vary!

You will have enough time to pack an overnight bag with the essentials for your trip. Meals are included in your sailing tour but don’t forget to pop to one of the local bottle shops to stock up with a few drinks and at Woolworths in town for some snacks. If you need somewhere to store your backpack or suitcase whilst on your overnight sailing tour, then simply ask the friendly crew at your hostel reception, who are happy to store your bags and keep them safe for $10.

You will then need to make your way to the marina (a short walk from your hostel) where you will meet the rest of your group. Here, you will jump aboard your Whitsundays sailing vessel. You will embark on your sailing adventure out to the islands supported by your friendly on-board crew. On your way out to the islands, you will get to know your fellow passengers from all over the world, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the experience.

Your guides will take you on a hands-on sailing experience and will be there with you at all times to ensure you have a safe and fun experience. These on-board legends will show you the best spots and answer any questions you have about these incredible islands.

You will arrive on the islands on day two and anchor up for the night where you may want to snorkel the coral reef or visit one of the epic islands. We always recommend a few ‘get to know ya’ drinks on the first day to break the ice but don’t go too crazy! Enjoy the sunset, have a nice dinner, and take it easy with your crew.

On day three, wake up to the sun rising over the ocean and high above the islands. Enjoy an on-deck brekkie before your guides set sail to your next destination. 

Today is all about an epic guided bushwalk experience to the famous Hill Inlet. Here, you will get to access the world famous 7km Whitehaven beach! (you definitely don’t want to forget your camera for this one). Spend a few hours at the beach enjoying the silica sand and swimming in the crystal clear water. 

Jump back on board your boat for lunch and sail to your next destination. You may wish to get involved in sailing or sunbathe on deck, all while hanging out with your new mates. 

Next stop will usually be an epic snorkel spot. Here, you can enjoy the unreal coral on the fringing reefs as well as loads of incredible marine life such as turtles, tropical fish, and giant clams! 

By the end of the day, you will get together for dinner and drinks. Whilst this isn’t a party boat, it is recommended for a fun and social traveller, so enjoy some drinks as the sun goes down. Don’t forget to take a look up at night, because stargazing around the island is a once in a lifetime sight. With very little light pollution, you can see every star in the galaxy!

We’d recommend waking up early today to make the most of your morning. First things first, so jump in the ocean to wake up and have a final snorkel! Enjoy a goodbye-brekkie with your pals on board before setting sail back to shore to Airlie beach. 

Spend the day in Airlie kickin’ it by the lagoon with your friends from your boat trip. Check back into your hostel accommodation and spend the afternoon cruising around town and enjoying your free time. 

This night would be perfect to explore Airlie’s epic nightlife. We’d recommend you to start your evening off at The Shed Bar (connected to your hostel), followed by a few at Magnums Bar (great live music and cheap drink deals during Happy Hour). If you fancy going all out, then make sure to stop off at Mama Africa’s & Boom nightclubs (all walking distance from your hostel).

The final day of your Budget Sailing package is here. Time to check out and say goodbye before making your way home or to your next destination. Check out will be at 10AM, and if you need somewhere to store your luggage, just speak to the friendly reception team at Nomads Airlie Beach, and they will help you.

Most tour vouchers will specify if your trip is BYO however we recommend asking your tour provider if your trip is BYO when you reconfirm your booking 48 hours prior to departure.

Absolutely, just let us know your preferred start and finish location and we’ll make it work.

There is definitely no wrong way. We recommend either taking a WHIMIT or Hop on Hop off bus pass such as Greyhound or renting a campervan with some mates and hitting the open road. If you feel like getting pretty adventurous and want to get amongst the true Australian terrain, a 4WD may be better suited for you. Enquire now and we can help you find the most suitable transport option.

We get it. Life is all about the unexpected, especially when you are travelling. If you are unable to make your pre-arranged tour you will need to reach out to our support email so we can give you a helping hand. In all cases we strongly recommend having a valid travel insurance policy which covers you for unexpected cancellations.
