Kakadu to Litchfield 4WD Camping trip Itinerary

Day 1: Mary River > Jabiru

Today you will be starting your adventure with a Crocodile and Wildlife Cruise on the Mary River Wetlands. Here you can spot huge saltwater crocodiles and amazing birdlife in the wild. Next, you’ll journey on to Kakadu National Park and visit the Bowali Visitor Centre on the way as an introduction into the Park’s amazing history, landscape, and wildlife. After lunch, head to Cahills Crossing which is on the border of Kakadu and Arnhem Land. Here you will experience an incredible tour that introduces you to the cultural history of the land. As you cruise down the East Alligator River, learn about the Dreamtime stories of Arnhem Land and look out for more incredible wildlife. Next you will visit Ubirr Rock at sunset. Home to one of the best preserved and most popular Aboriginal Rock art, marvel at the ancient paintings and take a climb up to the top of the rock for a spectacular sunset over the Nadab Floodplains. Tonight, you will enjoy a delicious dinner and evening at Jabiru Campground.

Day 2: Kakadu National Park

Day 2 on your travels brings you an early breakfast and a trip to South Kakadu National Park. Here, experience the natural beauty and landscapes of the area. Enjoy hiking through stunning rainforests and diverse sights, and be rewarded with a refreshing swim in gorgeous plunge pools and dazzling waterfalls all the while surrounded by incredible rocks and cliffs, and wonderful nature. Depending on the season and weather, you will visit either Twin Falls or Jim Jim Falls for impressive views of the thunderous cascades, or head to Barramundi Gorge, also known as Maguk, for an incredible swim. Visit Nourlangie Rock for more impressive indigenous rock art dating back 20,000 years. Learn about important factors of the social, cultural, and environmental history of the area. Then it’s back to camp for a fun dinner around the campfire and a well-earned rest before another day of adventuring.

Day 3: Litchfield National Park

On your final day of travelling on this epic tour, journey through the Katherine region to Pine Creek, a small town famous for its discovery of Gold in the 1970’s. After time spent at the Adelaide River, head to Litchfield National Park for more wilderness adventures. Explore the wonderful waterfalls of Litchfield that seem never ending. Enjoy swimming in stunning spots such as Buley Rockholes, Wangi Falls, and Florence Falls. Marvel at the incredible Magnetic Termite Mounds, huge 2m tall formations spanning across the entire landscape. Finally, you’ll start making your way back to Darwin after 3 incredible days of fun and adventure, with new stories to tell and plenty of pictures to remind you of a once in a lifetime journey.

Do I need to reconfirm my bookings?

All bookings must be reconfirmed 48 hours in advance by contacting your tour provider directly using the contact information listed on your tour voucher.

What should i do if my trip is cancelled due to bad weather?

You may either re-schedule directly with the supplier or you can email our support team on [email protected] and include your voucher number, name of product you booked, planned departure date and your contact details. Once you’ve emailed us, you can drop us a line at +61 2 5633 1149.

Do you book tours with flexible dates? If so, how long are they valid for?

Yes, we do have open dated/flexible tickets available. Most tour vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of purchase, however please be aware that you may be subject to supplier price fluctuations. All ticket validity is specified on the tour voucher. If you are unsure of the validity of your voucher, just ask one of our wonderful staff.

What do I do if I need help with an existing booking?

Some tours have extra costs and you should be aware that there may be added expenses. These expenses will differ for each service provider, but some of the more usual extras are: EMC tax, stinger suit hire, luggage storage, sleeping bag hire, linen hire, national park fee, food, insurance, accommodation, equipment hire, petrol levy, etc. We will alert you to extra costs to the extent reasonably practicable. However, you must also check with each individual service provider when you re-confirm your booking.

Do I need travel insurance?

We endorse the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that all travellers take out travel insurance. If you already have travel insurance, please understand that it is your responsibility to ensure that your travel insurance covers you for all of the adventure style travel you have booked with us.

Do you offer payment plans?

Absolutely, we understand that paying off a big trip in one go isn’t always that easy. We offer flexible payment plans to suit all types of travellers with zero interest or fee’s (minimum $100AUD deposit required).

How do I know if my trip is BYO?

Most tour vouchers will specify if your trip is BYO however we recommend asking your tour provider if your trip is BYO when you reconfirm your booking 48 hours prior to departure.
