Remote Marine Reserve Tour With Abel Tasman Sea Kayaks
From $274.80pp

The best one day kayak trip using the tide to explore the best of the park on any given day.

Join Abel Tasman Sea Kayaks for a stunning day trip that covers the entire marine reserve from start to finish. This stunning trip has been tailored around the tide timetable to explore the marine reserve to the fullest. And better yet, you have two departure choices to get your nature fix. That’s right, two different routes to try out.

Option 1 is from Awaroa to finishing at Bark Bay. Starting at Awaroa, courtesy of a water taxi transfer, visit Shag Harbour, a hidden inlet like nowhere else in the Abel Tasman. Then paddle south, focusing on the Tonga Island Marine Reserve and its playful inhabitants – the NZ fur seal, Kekeno. After a picnic lunch on one of the beautiful beaches, visit Tonga Arches, exploring south along the carved granite coastline to the tranquil lagoons and golden sand of the ‘heart of the park’ to Bark Bay.

Option 2 is from Onetahuti to finishing at Anchorage. Paddle from Onetahuti out to Tonga Island to see New Zealand fur seals, Kekeno. Paddle south with the breeze, exploring sculptured granite headlands, tranquil lagoons and everything that’s special about the heart of the Abel Tasman. Enjoy lunch at this beach, before heading to Anchorage. Finish at Anchorage and return to Marahau by water taxi.

Kayaking is this team’s thing with all activities supported by a purpose-built kayak base, free hot showers, free wifi, free equipment storage & client transporters. The team also provides high-quality soft and hard gear, fitted for each client by our guides.

On this trip covering the Tonga Island Marine Reserve coastline, you will have a professional guide with you for around 8 hours sharing their knowledge and passion of the Abel Tasman. We cater a snack and lunch designed around your health and energy to keep you boosted and moving throughout the day.

There may be times when the weather changes during the day and the group is unable to return by kayak to Marahau or, very occasionally, must be cancelled at some stage during the day.
