Longer journeys however, like from Palawan to Cebu or Manila to Siargao, you may want to fly instead to save you a bit of time. Once you’re on an island, get yourself a scooter for the day for a fun adventure.

What is the best way to meet people in the Philippines?

If you’re travelling solo, the best ways to meet new people are hostels and group tours! Most hostels you stay in will have a very social vibe, or even a bar or two attached. However, we find that joining a group tour allows you to make deeper connections with your travel mates, and you’ll be leaving with friends for life.

What is the currency in the Philippines?

The Philippine Peso is the official currency here. For most people travelling from Australia, US, or European countries, The Philippines are considered to be one of the cheaper countries to travel in South East Asia. An average meal costs roughly $2 AUD, and a drink is about the same, meaning you could easily get by on about $50 AUD a day with accommodation too!
