Taking place over the course of four days, you will be spending two days in the classroom studying scuba theory and principles, and completing confined pool dives for basic training. Then, it’s off to the Great Barrier Reef to explore the thriving and vibrant underwater world. Two full Outer Reef day trips allows you to make the most of your new Scuba Diving skills while taking in the sights of colourful coral, rare fish, turtles and maybe even some reef sharks.
Getting your open water course is an absolute game changer, and will open up a world of opportunities on the rest of your travels, with so many incredible dive spots to explore. Divers Den offers an incredible and budget friendly experience and these day trips to the Great Barrier Reef are ideal for honing your skills amongst an abundance of marine life. An absolute must for any budding scuba enthusiast, you will be finishing your four days as a certified PADI Open Water Diver – and that is where the real fun begins!

9am: Check in at our Dive Centre at 319 Draper Street, Cairns. Meet your instructor, complete paperwork and begin dive theory.
Lunch is not included, but you can bring a packed lunch or there are plenty of places to eat nearby.
Afternoon: Begin your scuba skills training in the pool and complete your tread water test, finishing at approximately 5.30pm.
Morning: Continue scuba skills in the pool and complete 200m swim test. Don your wetsuit and equipment for more skills training.
Lunch is not included, but you can bring a packed lunch or there are plenty of places to eat nearby.
Afternoon: Finish and review scuba theory, finish with a multiple choice exam.
8am: Check in and board SeaQuest at Cairns Marlin Marina for your day trip to the Great Barrier Reef
8.30am: Set off on a 90 minute cruise to the outer reef, receive a briefing, then gear up and do your first training dive
12pm: Fuel up with a hearty lunch
12.30pm: Hit the water for your second dive to refine your skills, and practice your snorkelling skills at the reef’s beautiful shallow cays. After your fourth open water dive you’ll be a certified diver – congratulations!
2.30pm: Cruise back to Cairns, arriving at approximately 4.30pm
Day 1 and 2: Pick up from any inner city Cairns accommodation.
Day 3 and 4: Meet at SeaQuest at Cairns Marlin Marina.
Cancellations & Refunds:
Cancellations within 2 Days of the start date incur a 100.00% fee.
Cancellations on Day 1 of tour incurs an AUD$160 cancellation fee.
Cancellations on Day 2 of tour incurs an AUD$230 cancellation fee.
Cancellations after Day 2 incurs a 100% cancellation fee.
All bookings must be reconfirmed 48 hours in advance by contacting your tour provider directly using the contact information listed on your tour voucher.

Yes, we do have open dated/flexible tickets available. Most tour vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of purchase, however please be aware that you may be subject to supplier price fluctuations. All ticket validity is specified on the tour voucher.
