Noosa

Destination Information

In the heart of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast lies this beautiful paradise getaway that dreams are made of. Filled to the brim with an abundance of natural beauty, unique experiences from kayaking the Noosa Everglades to horse riding beach adventures, and locals are extremely passionate about keeping this wonderful part of the world clean, green, and eco-friendly.

A small sophisticated beach town, Noosa blends the best that nature, surf culture, fashion, and top class dining has to offer. Noosa is also one of the most popular places to start and finish your trip to the magical Fraser Island.

Noosa National Park

Giant gum trees, koalas, pristine beaches, and a world surfing reserve, National Park is a must when visiting this side of the Sunshine Coast with so much beauty to discover. This is the ultimate day. Pack a picnic, put on your swimmers, and head out. Accessible from town, the coastal tracks of the National Park can take you from your morning breakfast cafe on Hastings Street into paperbarks, rolling waves, and beautiful bays. How is that for serenity?!

Noosa Everglades

One of two everglades in the world, Noosa Everglades is a wilderness bursting with beauty, rare birds, and plants. Once inhabited by the Kabi Aboriginal people, visiting this special land is one of the most breathtaking things to do here. The Everglades offer mirrored reflections in the water, lush fauna, and pure tranquility, so we definitely recommend hiring a kayak (or a guided tour for more information) for the day and making your way down stream while you take it all in. Don’t worry about crocs either, as there are none in sight.

Hastings Street

Arguably the best main street in Australia, Hastings Street is the beating heart of Noosa and an absolutely essential stop while you’re enjoying the high life in Noosa. Filled with an eclectic mix of cafes, restaurants, bars, boutique retailers, spas, and art galleries with beach access across the road, Hastings Street has too much to offer.

Grab a coffee in the morning or treat yourself to a sunset adult beverage after a long day at the beach, followed by a lovely stroll down the fairy light covered boardwalk while the world class surfers ride in the final waves of the day. Up for a bit of a late night boogie? We recommend Miss Moneypenny’s Noosa or Sogo Bar, offering up world class DJs and musicians with a different flavour every night of the week.

Noosa Main Beach

Main Beach is a hot spot for sand, sunshine, and getting the beautiful golden tan going again. Fun fact; it’s one of the few Australian beaches that face north. Patrolled every day by quality surf lifesavers, you will have heaps of fun swimming and surfing on the waves. The waves are pretty relaxed too, so if you’re looking to try your luck at surfing, this is an amazing spot for beginners. There’s plenty of surf hire options in town and fringing upon the beach for cheaper rates than other hot spots, and if you’re looking for some help standing up for the first time, Noosa has top notch surf schools, including Epic, Merrick’s, and Go Ride A Wave.

Double Island Point

A day trip to Double Island Point should be squarely on your list of things to do in Noosa. A two hour drive from Noosa Main Beach will take you to this scenic headland, offering mesmerising views along the beach and out to sea.

The easiest way to visit Double Island Point is by 4WD vehicle along Cooloola’s beach drive between Noosa North Shore and Rainbow Beach. Definitely check out the lighthouse walk for great views and head out to the northern beaches to launch out a canoe for some serenity on the water.

If you’re feeling adventurous, think about trying out the Double Island Point walk, a full day hike from Rainbow Beach. Follow the historic lighthouse telegraph line along the high coastal dunes, looking for old telegraph posts still standing amongst the blackbutt trees. Go for a splash in the calm lagoon at the base of Double Island Point headland and watch surfers catching the long, rolling waves. Climb the steep track to the Double Island Point lighthouse to gaze at sweeping views over the ocean and coast to the north and south, before your return journey.
