One of the most photographed spots in Fiji and a must-visit on any Yasawa adventure.
Ancient limestone caves sacred to local Fijians. Swim through a narrow underwater passage to reach a hidden second chamber – an unforgettable experience for adventurous travellers. The caves are steeped in legend and offer a unique break from beach time.
The largest island in the Yasawas, home to some of the chain’s most beautiful beaches including iconic Long Beach. A great base for hiking, village visits, and exploring neighbouring islands. Several budget-friendly resorts cater to backpackers here.
Famous for manta ray encounters between May and October, when these gentle giants cruise through the channel. A bucket-list experience for snorkellers and divers wanting to swim alongside one of the ocean’s most majestic creatures.
A mix of beach relaxation and adventure. Hike to volcanic peaks for panoramic views, explore traditional villages, or kayak around the coastline. One of the more rugged islands, ideal for travellers who want more than just beach time.
One of the closest Yasawa islands to the mainland, making it an easy first stop. Famous for shark diving experiences where you can get up close with reef sharks in a safe, guided environment – perfect for thrill-seekers.
The easiest way is by the Yasawa Flyer, a high-speed catamaran that departs daily from Denarau Marina. The journey takes between 2-5 hours depending on which island you’re heading to.
The dry season from May to October offers the best weather with warm days, cooler nights, and less rain. This is also peak season for manta ray sightings around Drawaqa Island. The wet season (November to April) is warmer and more humid but often means fewer crowds and lower prices.
Absolutely. The Yasawas are one of Fiji’s most popular backpacker destinations, with budget-friendly island resorts, dorm accommodation, and island-hopping passes designed for travellers on a budget. The Bula Pass makes it easy to explore multiple islands without breaking the bank.

Yes, most island resorts are cash-only or have limited EFTPOS facilities. There are no ATMs on the islands, so withdraw enough cash in Nadi or Denarau before you go.
Pack light with reef-safe sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, insect repellent, a torch (power can be limited), and a good book. Most resorts are casual; thongs, boardies, and a rashie are all you need.
The Yasawa Islands are remote islands, which is part of the charm, but this means there are no shops, supermarkets, restaurants, or cafes here. For this reason, there is a compulsory meal cost which is paid directly to each island accommodation which covers all of your meals whilst on the islands. The food is fresh and delicious, and is an incredible part of the island experience. Meal costs tend to be between 85 and 120AUD a night per person for all 3 meals, depending on where you are staying. Reach out to our expert Fiji travel team for more information.
