Things to know

Please print a copy of our e-ticket or have it readily available on your smart phone/tablet, or note down your booking reference number for check-in.

Yasawa Adventures Fiji uses a Day/Month/Year date format in all confirmations / itineraries.

There is a no smoking policy on all Yasawa Adventures Fiji & South Sea Cruises’ coaches and vessels.

The Resorts’ booked through Yasawa Adventures Fiji will provide you with linen, towels, and most provide basic toiletries – some properties may charge a small fee for the use of towels in their dorms. We suggest that you bring your own toiletries and may also wish to bring your own towel as well as sunscreen, insect repellent (with DEET or similar), swimwear, a sunhat, and sunglasses. Light, loose clothing is recommended during the day with something warmer for those cooler evenings. The resorts all have generators with the majority operating 24 hours a day, voltage and power sockets are the same as those used in Australia and New Zealand (220 – 240 volts).

There are no banks in the Mamanuca or Yasawa Islands, so please take a credit/debit card for any incidentals. You will find ATM cash machines at Nadi International Airport, Wailoaloa Bay and at Port Denarau should you wish to take a small amount of cash with you.

Unless otherwise stipulated by the resort you are staying at, we do advise not to drink the water in the rooms/bures as in many cases this is not potable water. However, most of the resorts we book do ensure that the water accessing the kitchen, bar and the restaurant is all filtered to drinking standards. All the resorts will have filtered drinking water available for you to refill your reusable drink bottle.

‘Bula’ is Fijian for ‘Hello’ and ‘Vinaka’ is Fijian for ‘Thank you’ – bring your sense of fun and don’t forget to relax and enjoy this beautiful part of the world!

Sunday is a day of rest in Fiji and the local villages attend church services throughout the Yasawa Islands. This means that some of the activities may not be on offer. You will of course be welcome to join the local church service in the village – an amazing experience!

Maisy was so super helpful in booking my trip for my friend and I to FIJI🤪. Even though one of us is remote right now, she was patient enough to wait when I was waiting for a response from my friend and was super friendly, funny and just fantastic! I will definitely be coming back to book future trips with Maisy - must be such a joy to work with :)

Lauren Jefferson 24/02/2026

Honestly can't recommend Ella at Happy Travels enough! From start to finish she was so clear, fun to plan with and helpful. We're spending 2 weeks in Fiji and really wanted to make it the best trip possible, and she broke down every step of the trip, from the resorts to the ferries to the meals and activities. She was even sharing videos of her time there which just made us even more excited to go. She handles all the logisitics and now we have an amazing trip planned and we've barely had to do any of the work for it! 100% recommend booking with Happy Travels we can't wait to be in Fiji now

Tegan Smith 24/02/2026

We have just booked a two-week Fiji adventure with Abbie. Incredible service. Could not be more appreciative. Very attentive and lovely to speak to/deal with. There was no pressure at all, nothing was too much trouble either. We changed the order of things so many times. Her knowledge of Fiji is great and it was super reassuring to hear about her experiences! 10 out of 10 great service, will defo be going to them about future travel!

Ella Burgess 15/02/2026

Franzi was the best! We recently completed trip to Fiji on the ‘Fiji Island Explorer’ package after booking through Franzi in Cairns at the end of our East Coast trip! She was nothing but helpful, explained everything so well and made the whole trip super easy and stress free! When you’re out there, Happy Travels made it so straight forward for us to follow and we had the BEST time! I would recommend Fiji and Happy Travels to anyone! 🧡

Just got to our first island and we're blown away with it! It's so beautiful. Getting here was so easy and Ella explained everything with the transfers and the ferries and now we're here on the beach sipping a cocktail with a scuba dive booked for the morning. Thomas Nixon 08/01/2026

Ella really helped us out, we didn't realise how tricky it was to plan Fiji last minute and we rocked up with nothing planned. Reached out to Happy Travels and we were on a boat the next day heading out to the islands for 2 weeks. Best last minute decision ever

Selena Booth 05/01/2026

We spent two weeks in Fiji for my birthday and couldn't have planned the trip better ourselves - it was easy, quick, and we felt so listened to each step of the way. We visited so many islands but Blue Lagoon was definitely our favourite - Abbie was great recommending staying there on my birthday becuase it felt the most special and had the best dining experience too. It was just such a special treat and the staff went out of their way to make me feel celebrated. 100% recommend booking this trip to Fiji it's once in a lifetime!

Will Roth 03/01/2026

Big thanks to Happy Travels for helping us plan our 14 day Fiji Island hopper! We just filled out the enquiry form, got a call straight away and an itinerary on whatsapp. They were great at explaining each part of the trip and all the different islands and how the food and everything works because it's not much information elsewhere so we were really grateful for that. Now it's all booked and sorted, can't wait to get out there in June

Maxim Weber 30/12/2025

can’t say enough good things about working with Phoebe to plan my trip to Fiji! From our very first conversation, she was attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly enthusiastic about creating the perfect getaway. She took the time to understand exactly what I was looking for—relaxation, adventure, and a little bit of luxury—and delivered all that and more. Every detail was flawlessly arranged: flights, transfers, accommodations. What really set her apart was her communication. She kept me updated every step of the way and responded to all my questions quickly and clearly. I never once felt stressed during the planning process—just pure excitement! Thanks to Phoebe If you’re looking for a travel agent who genuinely cares and goes the extra mile, look no further. I’ll definitely be booking my next adventure with her!

8. Inclusive Packages

Our packages are great for those that prefer a more independent experience – these are self-guided packages that let the traveller explore at their own pace. Packages visit different regions within the Yasawa and Mamanuca Islands (Blue Lagoon region, Manta Ray region, Yasawa Gateway region and Mamanuca Islands). As the resorts within these regions are small (which is part of the attraction of visiting these islands) there is limited availability, therefore we use at least 2 resorts in most regions to try to accommodate all guests.

On nights where our itineraries show more than one hotel listed within a region, the Yasawa Adventures reservations office will confirm the client’s itinerary based on the availability of the resorts and room types at the time of receiving the booking. While we try to accommodate requests for specific resorts/hotels, these are not guaranteed and will be subject to availability at the time of booking. All activities provided will be based on the activities provided at the hotel confirmed in the final itinerary and may be substituted for an alternative activity should they not be available or operational upon client’s arrival at the resort.

9. Bula and Awesome Hop-On/Hop-Off Passes

9a) ‘Bula Passes’ and ‘Yasawa Passes’ are valid for the travel duration as purchased/shown on the Pass

9b) The Yasawa Pass is available in 2 categories:

9c) Minimum/Maximum stay requirements

When using an Yasawa Pass Standard or Upgrade there is a maximum of 4 nights at any one hotel/resort
When using an Yasawa Pass Standard – there is a 1 (one) night minimum stay at South Sea Island for all guests travelling on an Yasawa Pass of 8 (eight) nights or more

9d) Passes are valid for travel on board South Sea Cruises and Yasawa Adventures Fiji vessels to/from South Sea Island only in the Mamanuca Islands and all stops serviced in the Yasawa Islands on Route 7 for the consecutive number of days of the pass duration selected based on vessel schedules at the time of travel.

9e) All Dorms and room types with shared bathroom facilities have a minimum age of 18 years – people 17 years and under are not permitted in these room categories

9f) Passes include complimentary scheduled coach transfers from most Nadi, Denarau, and Wailoaloa hotels/resorts (and Nadi Airport) to connect with the Yasawa Flyer – these must be pre-booked.

9h) Yasawa Pass vouchers issued for the specified number of nights as per the selected pass duration. While all travel is pre-paid it does not need to be pre-booked at the time of purchase – reservations must stil be made for all vessel transfers and accommodation at least 24 hours prior to the travel date and accommodation MUST be booked before disembarking from the South Sea Cruises vessels. Guests must make their accommodation bookings in advance of their arrival at a resort – all accommodation is subject to availability. You will be given all the necessary documents/vouchers including the Yasawa Adventures Pack (Yasawa Adventures sulu, drink bottle, and dry bag) if this is included in your selected package, at Port Denarau on the first morning of your island trip. Take good care of these documents as these are required to be sighted by each hotel/resort and tour operator.

14. Visa Requirements

It is the responsibility of all customers travelling with Yasawa Adventures Fiji to check and adhere to Fiji’s visa requirements.

15. Travel Insurance

There are very limited medical facilities in the Yasawa Islands so if any medical problem arises you will likely need to return to Nadi. If this problem develops into a serious medical issue, you will most likely want to leave Fiji for Australia or New Zealand, or home. There is also a higher degree of risk in public areas, on local vessels, etc. Sea conditions and sometimes cyclones can prevent travel on the booked dates. It is therefore, an essential condition of travelling with Yasawa Adventures Fiji that you have a valid travel insurance policy to cover the cost of any emergency medical treatment and/or evacuation plus insurance cover for cancelled and/or delayed travel expenses incurred due to cancelled or delayed services as the result of weather events or unforeseen operational issues.

Which island is my perfect match?

It’s a true luxury to have to choose between paradises! Will you opt for an island known for its party atmosphere or a resort renowned for cocktails and massages? You might go for a tiny palm-fringed speck of an island or one that is majestic, rugged, and wild. Some resorts have calm, shallow waters on white-sand beaches while others have deep channels just off their shores where manta rays glide by between May and October.

Whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed! Remember, you can always book a Package, which includes a fantastic range of resorts and islands meaning you’ll experience more than one.

Here’s a VERY brief rundown on some standout features, but most island resorts offer something for everyone.

Close to Port Denarau, lots of entertainment & water sports
South Sea Island in the Mamanuca Islands is a great option. This tiny island iscute as a button but overflowing with activities.

Romantic escapism
You can find your own secret pocket of paradise at Blue Lagoon Beach Resort, Octopus Resort, Coconut Beach Resort, or Paradise Cove Resort.

Every night is a Friday
If you want a more social atmosphere, we recommend Mantaray Island Resort or try South Sea Island which offers a range of evening entertainment, including limbo nights if you want to get your dance on!

Action stations!
If you want to get the adrenalin pumping Barefoot Kuata Resort is the go-to place for snorkeling with reef sharks or go all out and do the intro dive with Bull Sharks. Mantaray Island Resort and Barefoot Kuata Island Resort are home to the famous manta ray (May – Oct), which is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Blue Lagoon Beach Resort and Oarsman’s Bay Lodge are at the centre of the Blue Lagoon region which is the gateway to the Sawa-I-Lau Caves and some pretty fabulous snorkelling.

Insta-Worthy Spots
Want to get the best insta shots to make all your mates at home really jealous? The summit hikes Blue Lagoon Beach Resort (best at sunrise), Barefoot Kuata Island Resort (best at sunset) and Mantaray Island Resort (best at sunrise) should not be missed. The Sawa-I-Lau caves are definitely worth the trip as well as a walk over the hill from Nanuya Boathouse to Lo’s Tea House for some great island and lagoon shots.

If activities are your key in choosing where to go, visit our activities page. Under each activity description, you’ll see which resorts offer the experiences you’re after.

Why would I book a Yasawa Pass?

If you prefer to “go with the flow” and select the resorts and islands you’d like to stay at as you travel then a Yasawa Pass is perfect. These pre-paid passes allow you to choose the number of days/nights you’d like to travel in the Yasawa’s and then you can choose the level of accommodation to suit your budget/needs, dorm, standard bure, or upgrade bure. Of course, if you’re the organised type, then you can still buy a Pass and pre-book everything before you arrive in Fiji to ensure you get to stay at the resorts you prefer!

Do I need to take out travel insurance?

Yes. It is an essential condition of travelling with Yasawa Adventures Fiji that you have valid travel insurance.

There are no medical facilities in the Yasawa Islands so if any medical problem arises you will need to return to Nadi. Sea and weather conditions can sometimes prevent travel on your booked dates as well.

World Nomads travel insurance policies offer coverage for more than 150 activities. Get a quote, make a claim, or buy or extend your policy while on the road.

We endorse the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that all travellers take out travel insurance. If you already have Travel Insurance please understand that it is your responsibility to ensure that your Travel Insurance covers you for all of the adventure style travel you have booked with us.

Are there any cultural practices I need to be aware of?

Yes – culture is very important in the islands, so we ask you to respect a few practices upon entering any village.

No hats or sunglasses are to be worn (please do take these with you as it can get hot, but please take care to remove them from your head when in the village).
Ladies are required to have shoulders and knees covered, a sulu (sarong) is a great option to wear when visiting the village.

Please note that the above requests apply to villages, not resorts. Wearing swimwear, hats, sunglasses etc is completely acceptable at island resorts.

Are Yasawa Adventure packages escorted tours?

No way! We don’t do escorted tours – all our packages and passes are based on individual self guided travel – we have put together suggested itineraries (packages) to save you time working out all the logistics. You may of course meet up with other travellers doing the same package so are likely to see people at the various resorts you will be staying at. Of course, if you need to get ahold of us, we have a customer services team waiting for your call in Port Denarau or on the Yasawa Flyer.

When I book a Yasawa Adventure am I automatically booked on the Yasawa Flyer?

Yes, all our experiences INCLUDE Yasawa Flyer transfers to your island resort/s.

However, please note that you must reconfirm your booking 24 hours prior to departure.

How do I arrange transfers between my mainland accommodation and Port Denarau?

If you are staying overnight on the mainland before you travel to the Yasawa Islands, we offer complimentary coach transfer from select Nadi, Wailoaloa, and Denarau hotels/resorts to Port Denarau.

We are very happy to collect you from your accommodation on the first day of your Awesome Adventure Fiji package for the transfer to Port Denarau. If you don’t book your accommodation through us, you will need to advise us of where you are staying. If you don’t advise us, getting to Port Denarau on time is your responsibility and at your own cost. We also provide a courtesy coach drop-off back to most resorts in the Nadi, Wailoaloa, and Denarau areas: just let us know where you are staying.

At the end of an Awesome Adventures Fiji package, upon return to Port Denarau we’re still there to help out! We have a coach departing at 6.15pm to drop guests off at Nadi International Airport and select hotels and resorts. This service is complimentary to Awesome Adventures Fiji passengers.

Can I begin my Yasawa Adventure on the same day that I fly into Nadi?

The majority of our experiences depart on the Yasawa Flyer at 8:45am. For these departures, you are required to be at Port Denarau for check-in by 8:15 am. So unless you have a very early flight, we recommend you arrive the day prior and stay the night in Nadi or Denarau using one of our Arrival Packs:
Aquarius on the Beach
Smugglers Cove
The Palms Denararu

A few of our packages travel to the closer Mamanuca Islands first so if you are booking one of these packages, you can depart Port Denarau early morning, midday or mid-afternoon.

What are the island resorts like?

Most of the resorts in the Yasawa Islands source the majority of their staff from the surrounding local villages and islands. Just about every resort is beachfront, with coral lagoons on the doorstep. The resorts range in style from mid-level resorts to modern properties with a higher standard of accommodation and amenities. This accommodates for travellers with different tastes and budgets. One thing all these resorts have in common is they are all set in stunning locations.

The resorts we offer have a range of room types from simple dorms through to beachfront luxury bures which means they cater for a very wide range of budgets.

Note: The resorts are not owned by Awesome Adventures Fiji and standards vary from property to property. We do monitor the resorts and have our staff visiting regularly to ensure everything is as it should be. Some of the properties run on power generators therefore, the voltage supplied might not be as strong and some devices may not operate effectively.

The following applies for all the resorts:

Resort-style properties
Modern with a high standard of accommodation and amenities
Meals are not included in the nightly rate; instead, you buy a daily meal plan either when booking or at check-in
Meals can include multiple courses with a varied selection of local and international dishes
All include free drinking water

What's the difference between a Dorm and a Bure?

Dorm’s (or Dormitories) are great for social travellers on a budget – these range from Dorm rooms with just 4 beds through to 32 beds and are a mixture of unisex or single-sex. You will, of course, be sharing your sleeping space and bathrooms with other travellers but it’s a great way to keep the cost down and meet new people.

Bures (Fijian word for Bungalow) are your own private Room or Bure, most of which include a private en suite – these do cost a bit more but this gives you your own private space.

Can I eat at places other than my resort?

Eating at the resort you’re staying at is your only choice – there are no restaurants around the corner.

What do I do if I have dietary requirements?

Please advise any dietary requirements at the time of booking and please also reiterate these directly to each resort on arrival/check-in. Please remember that these island resorts are remote and their access to a wide range of foods is somewhat limited by deliveries and availability, but the resorts will accommodate the best they can.
