Book on board – we have a travel desk on board the vessels, where you can book your transfers for your Pass or add to your trip as you travel. Credit/Debit cards are accepted (no cash).

Your pass is activated on the first day of your arrival and is valid until your last day inclusively.

The Bula Pass is valid for use at any stops on the Yasawa Flyer route.

Each time you disembark the Yasawa Flyer, you must have pre-booked accommodation for the night.

Bula Pass bookings need to be made at least 24 hours prior to disembarking.

We do recommend however that you confirm your final travel dates at least 14 days prior to arrival in Fiji to ensure the resorts are available. Things To Know

Please print a copy of our e-ticket or have it readily available on your smart phone/tablet, or note down your booking reference number for check-in.

Yasawa Adventures Fiji uses a Day/Month/Year date format in all confirmations / itineraries.

There is a no smoking policy on all Yasawa Adventures Fiji & South Sea Cruises’ coaches and vessels.

The Resorts’ booked through Yasawa Adventures Fiji will provide you with linen, towels, and most provide basic toiletries – some properties may charge a small fee for the use of towels in their dorms. We suggest that you bring your own toiletries and may also wish to bring your own towel as well as sunscreen, insect repellent (with DEET or similar), swimwear, a sunhat, and sunglasses. Light, loose clothing is recommended during the day with something warmer for those cooler evenings. The resorts all have generators with the majority operating 24 hours a day, voltage and power sockets are the same as those used in Australia and New Zealand (220 – 240 volts).

There are no banks in the Mamanuca or Yasawa Islands, so please take a credit/debit card for any incidentals. You will find ATM cash machines at Nadi International Airport, Wailoaloa Bay and at Port Denarau should you wish to take a small amount of cash with you.

Unless otherwise stipulated by the resort you are staying at, we do advise not to drink the water in the rooms/bures as in many cases this is not potable water. However, most of the resorts we book do ensure that the water accessing the kitchen, bar and the restaurant is all filtered to drinking standards. All the resorts will have filtered drinking water available for you to refill your reusable drink bottle.

‘Bula’ is Fijian for ‘Hello’ and ‘Vinaka’ is Fijian for ‘Thank you’ – bring your sense of fun and don’t forget to relax and enjoy this beautiful part of the world!

Sunday is a day of rest in Fiji and the local villages attend church services throughout the Yasawa Islands. This means that some of the activities may not be on offer. You will of course be welcome to join the local church service in the village – an amazing experience!

8. Inclusive Packages

Our packages are great for those that prefer a more independent experience – these are self-guided packages that let the traveller explore at their own pace. Packages visit different regions within the Yasawa and Mamanuca Islands (Blue Lagoon region, Manta Ray region, Yasawa Gateway region and Mamanuca Islands). As the resorts within these regions are small (which is part of the attraction of visiting these islands) there is limited availability, therefore we use at least 2 resorts in most regions to try to accommodate all guests.

On nights where our itineraries show more than one hotel listed within a region, the Yasawa Adventures reservations office will confirm the client’s itinerary based on the availability of the resorts and room types at the time of receiving the booking. While we try to accommodate requests for specific resorts/hotels, these are not guaranteed and will be subject to availability at the time of booking. All activities provided will be based on the activities provided at the hotel confirmed in the final itinerary and may be substituted for an alternative activity should they not be available or operational upon client’s arrival at the resort.

13. Force Majeure

Yasawa Adventures Fiji shall not be liable or responsible for any failure or delay in the performance of its obligations specified herein arising out of or caused by, directly or indirectly, forces beyond its control, including, without limitation, acts of war or terrorism, strikes, riots, accidents, civil or military disturbances, natural catastrophes or acts of God, virus outbreaks, pandemics, power or any other mechanical failures, computer virus, governmental action, or communications disruption.

14. Visa Requirements

It is the responsibility of all customers travelling with Yasawa Adventures Fiji to check and adhere to Fiji’s visa requirements.

15. Travel Insurance

There are very limited medical facilities in the Yasawa Islands so if any medical problem arises you will likely need to return to Nadi. If this problem develops into a serious medical issue, you will most likely want to leave Fiji for Australia or New Zealand, or home. There is also a higher degree of risk in public areas, on local vessels, etc. Sea conditions and sometimes cyclones can prevent travel on the booked dates. It is therefore, an essential condition of travelling with Yasawa Adventures Fiji that you have a valid travel insurance policy to cover the cost of any emergency medical treatment and/or evacuation plus insurance cover for cancelled and/or delayed travel expenses incurred due to cancelled or delayed services as the result of weather events or unforeseen operational issues.

Which island is my perfect match?

It’s a true luxury to have to choose between paradises! Will you opt for an island known for its party atmosphere or a resort renowned for cocktails and massages? You might go for a tiny palm-fringed speck of an island or one that is majestic, rugged, and wild. Some resorts have calm, shallow waters on white-sand beaches while others have deep channels just off their shores where manta rays glide by between May and October.

Whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed! Remember, you can always book a Package, which includes a fantastic range of resorts and islands meaning you’ll experience more than one.

Here’s a VERY brief rundown on some standout features, but most island resorts offer something for everyone.

Close to Port Denarau, lots of entertainment & water sports
South Sea Island in the Mamanuca Islands is a great option. This tiny island iscute as a button but overflowing with activities.

Romantic escapism
You can find your own secret pocket of paradise at Blue Lagoon Beach Resort, Octopus Resort, Coconut Beach Resort, or Paradise Cove Resort.

Every night is a Friday
If you want a more social atmosphere, we recommend Mantaray Island Resort or try South Sea Island which offers a range of evening entertainment, including limbo nights if you want to get your dance on!

Action stations!
If you want to get the adrenalin pumping Barefoot Kuata Resort is the go-to place for snorkeling with reef sharks or go all out and do the intro dive with Bull Sharks. Mantaray Island Resort and Barefoot Kuata Island Resort are home to the famous manta ray (May – Oct), which is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Blue Lagoon Beach Resort and Oarsman’s Bay Lodge are at the centre of the Blue Lagoon region which is the gateway to the Sawa-I-Lau Caves and some pretty fabulous snorkelling.

Insta-Worthy Spots
Want to get the best insta shots to make all your mates at home really jealous? The summit hikes Blue Lagoon Beach Resort (best at sunrise), Barefoot Kuata Island Resort (best at sunset) and Mantaray Island Resort (best at sunrise) should not be missed. The Sawa-I-Lau caves are definitely worth the trip as well as a walk over the hill from Nanuya Boathouse to Lo’s Tea House for some great island and lagoon shots.

If activities are your key in choosing where to go, visit our activities page. Under each activity description, you’ll see which resorts offer the experiences you’re after.

Why would I book a Yasawa Pass?

If you prefer to “go with the flow” and select the resorts and islands you’d like to stay at as you travel then a Yasawa Pass is perfect. These pre-paid passes allow you to choose the number of days/nights you’d like to travel in the Yasawa’s and then you can choose the level of accommodation to suit your budget/needs, dorm, standard bure, or upgrade bure. Of course, if you’re the organised type, then you can still buy a Pass and pre-book everything before you arrive in Fiji to ensure you get to stay at the resorts you prefer!

Do I need to take out travel insurance?

Yes. It is an essential condition of travelling with Yasawa Adventures Fiji that you have valid travel insurance.

There are no medical facilities in the Yasawa Islands so if any medical problem arises you will need to return to Nadi. Sea and weather conditions can sometimes prevent travel on your booked dates as well.

World Nomads travel insurance policies offer coverage for more than 150 activities. Get a quote, make a claim, or buy or extend your policy while on the road.

We endorse the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that all travellers take out travel insurance. If you already have Travel Insurance please understand that it is your responsibility to ensure that your Travel Insurance covers you for all of the adventure style travel you have booked with us.

Are there any cultural practices I need to be aware of?

Yes – culture is very important in the islands, so we ask you to respect a few practices upon entering any village.

No hats or sunglasses are to be worn (please do take these with you as it can get hot, but please take care to remove them from your head when in the village).
Ladies are required to have shoulders and knees covered, a sulu (sarong) is a great option to wear when visiting the village.

Please note that the above requests apply to villages, not resorts. Wearing swimwear, hats, sunglasses etc is completely acceptable at island resorts.

Are Yasawa Adventure packages escorted tours?

No way! We don’t do escorted tours – all our packages and passes are based on individual self guided travel – we have put together suggested itineraries (packages) to save you time working out all the logistics. You may of course meet up with other travellers doing the same package so are likely to see people at the various resorts you will be staying at. Of course, if you need to get ahold of us, we have a customer services team waiting for your call in Port Denarau or on the Yasawa Flyer.

When I book a Yasawa Adventure am I automatically booked on the Yasawa Flyer?

Yes, all our experiences INCLUDE Yasawa Flyer transfers to your island resort/s.

However, please note that you must reconfirm your booking 24 hours prior to departure.

How do I arrange transfers between my mainland accommodation and Port Denarau?

If you are staying overnight on the mainland before you travel to the Yasawa Islands, we offer complimentary coach transfer from select Nadi, Wailoaloa, and Denarau hotels/resorts to Port Denarau.

We are very happy to collect you from your accommodation on the first day of your Yasawa Adventure Fiji package for the transfer to Port Denarau. If you don’t book your accommodation through us, you will need to advise us of where you are staying. If you don’t advise us, getting to Port Denarau on time is your responsibility and at your own cost. We also provide a courtesy coach drop-off back to most resorts in the Nadi, Wailoaloa, and Denarau areas: just let us know where you are staying.

At the end of a Yasawa Adventures Fiji package, upon return to Port Denarau we’re still there to help out! We have a coach departing at 6.15pm to drop guests off at Nadi International Airport and select hotels and resorts. This service is complimentary to Yasawa Adventures Fiji passengers.

Click the relevant link below for the current coach transfer timetable:

Coach Transfer Timetable

Can I begin my Yasawa Adventure on the same day that I fly into Nadi?

The majority of our experiences depart on the Yasawa Flyer at 8:45am. For these departures, you are required to be at Port Denarau for check-in by 8:15 am. So unless you have a very early flight, we recommend you arrive the day prior and stay the night in Nadi or Denarau using one of our Arrival Packs:
Aquarius on the Beach
Smugglers Cove
The Palms Denararu

A few of our packages travel to the closer Mamanuca Islands first so if you are booking one of these packages, you can depart Port Denarau early morning, midday or mid-afternoon.

What are the island resorts like?

Most of the resorts in the Yasawa Islands source the majority of their staff from the surrounding local villages and islands. Just about every resort is beachfront, with coral lagoons on the doorstep. The resorts range in style from mid-level resorts to modern properties with a higher standard of accommodation and amenities. This accommodates for travellers with different tastes and budgets. One thing all these resorts have in common is they are all set in stunning locations.

The resorts we offer have a range of room types from simple dorms through to beachfront luxury bures which means they cater for a very wide range of budgets.

Note: The resorts are not owned by Yasawa Adventures Fiji and standards vary from property to property. We do monitor the resorts and have our staff visiting regularly to ensure everything is as it should be. Some of the properties run on power generators therefore, the voltage supplied might not be as strong and some devices may not operate effectively.

The following applies for all the resorts:

Resort-style properties
Modern with a high standard of accommodation and amenities
Meals are not included in the nightly rate; instead, you buy a daily meal plan either when booking or at check-in
Meals can include multiple courses with a varied selection of local and international dishes
All include free drinking water

What's the difference between a Dorm and a Bure?

Dorm’s (or Dormitories) are great for social travellers on a budget – these range from Dorm rooms with just 4 beds through to 32 beds and are a mixture of unisex or single-sex. You will, of course, be sharing your sleeping space and bathrooms with other travellers but it’s a great way to keep the cost down and meet new people.

Bures (Fijian word for Bungalow) are your own private Room or Bure, most of which include a private en suite – these do cost a bit more but this gives you your own private space.

Can I eat at places other than my resort?

Eating at the resort you’re staying at is your only choice – there are no restaurants around the corner.

What do I do if I have dietary requirements?

Please advise any dietary requirements at the time of booking. Please also reiterate these directly to each resort on arrival/check-in. Please remember that these island resorts are remote and their access to a wide range of foods is somewhat limited by deliveries and availability, but the resorts will accommodate the best they can.
