Be ready to take a dip in one of the many refreshing swim spots the island has to offer, from Lake Mckenzie’s crystal clear water and white silica sand, to the natural current that lets you flow down Eli Creek, to the beautiful rocky landscape and ocean view of the Champagne Pools. Stunning rainforests, breathtaking sand dunes, and scenic bush walks will leave you wanting to stay here forever.

3 full days on the island ensures you have more than enough time to really take in the sights everywhere you go, making the most of your time on the island. At the end of every day, enjoy a Dingo safe camp with delicious food, a campfire, a fun team and awesome fellow travellers to wind down with. K'gari Safari Trip Itinerary

Day 1

Start bright and early from Nomads Hostel in Noosa.
Head to Rainbow Beach (transfers included) to pick up your 4wd vehicles.
Once you’ve learned everything you need to know about the vehicles, you’ll be driving to the ferry at Inskip Point, which takes you over to K’Gari.
Arrive on the island and drive along 75 Mile Beach to your first destination.
The itinerary will change depending on weather and tide conditions to make the most of your time on K’Gari.
Your first day may take you to the lusciously green Lake Wabby.
After lunch, explore the rainforest at Wanggoolba Creek, or see Central Station.
Enjoy the bumpy but exciting drive through the forest towards your camp.
Choose your tent, enjoy dinner and drinks with your new friends, stargaze on the beach.
Enjoy a good night’s rest before another day of exploring.

Day 2

Another early start with a continental style breakfast before heading out to make the most of your day.
Today brings you downtime at the wonderful Eli Creek, and a quick stop to see the famous SS Maheno Shipwreck.
After lunch drive to Indian Head lookout and the scenic Champagne Pools.
Head back down 75 Mile Beach for your final night at camp.

Day 3

After breakfast and packing up camp, enjoy your last day exploring K’Gari.
Head to the beautiful Lake Mckenzie, swim in the wonderfully fresh water and relax on the stark white silica sand.
Another delicious lunch before making your way back to the ferry, and over to Rainbow Beach.
Back to Noosa for a fun night at KB’s bar with your new friends.

6pm safety briefing at Nomads Noosa the day before your tour commences is mandatory. Please ensure you have made travel arrangements to arrive in Noosa in good time. Tour itinerary and visitation to all attractions is subject to the island’s conditions, tides, weather and National Park permit constrictions. Open dated bookings – allow a minimum of 14 days notice to book. Tour cancellation less than 7 days prior to departure and no-shows incur 100% cancellation fee . Changes permitted up to 72 hours prior departure

All K’gari Tours tours are subject to weather conditions, minimum touring numbers of 8 passengers (or management’s discretion), and minimum driver numbers of one (1) driver per vehicle. K’gari Tours reserves the right to suspend a tour based on non-complying conditions and reschedule guests to another day of touring departure. Changes to confirmed dates must be made at K’gari Tours and are subject to availability as per our 7 day cancellation and change policy. Tickets are non-transferable and cannot be substituted for cash or any other product. All prices are subject to change. K’gari Tours recommends all guests have travel insurance before participating on our tours. Cancellations: Tour and accommodation cancellations made less than 7 days prior to departure will result in a 100% cancellation fee. Failure to show for accommodation or any tour booked with K’gari Tours or Nomads Noosa Backpackers will forfeit full cost. Partial cancellations of one (or multiple) tour components(s) are not permitted. Rare tour cancellations made at the decision of Island Expeditions require guest re-booking and are subject to availability. This includes, but is not limited to, cancellations due to unfavourable weather conditions or National Park closure. Date changes incur a $40 surcharge per passenger. Inclusions: All package accommodation includes shared dormitory accommodation in a 16 bed mixed dorm. Marine and National Park Fees are included in the tour price, unless otherwise stated. Some additional fees may apply for K’Gari touring, including; food, beverage and vehicle bond costs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I leave my backpack and belongings whilst I am on K’gari?

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. On the morning of your tour you will be meeting at Nomads Hostel in Noosa, where they have luggage storage rooms for you to store your larger luggage while you take your overnight bag on tour.

Is travel insurance required?

Queensland is subject to cyclones and flash flooding. Sometimes roads are closed, making it impossible to reach Rainbow Beach, Noosa, or the Island. If the Island is deemed unsafe Queensland National Parks can close K’gari. The Island is remote and it can be very expensive if you need to leave in the event of an emergency and for these reasons we highly recommend Travel Insurance.

We endorse the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that all travelers take out travel insurance. Where do we sleep on K’gari?

The campsite is set up in 4 person tents with beds, comfortable mattresses, pillows, and linen included. A general store, amenities block with hot showers and flushing toilets are all surrounded by a dingo-fence. The beach is a short walk away for a tranquil sunrise or sunset moments.

Can I drive on K'gari?

Yes! You can drive on K’gari if:
– You are 21 years of age with 2 years of driving experience.
– You hold a valid driving license.

If your driver’s license is not written in full English it must be accompanied by an international driver’s license. No photocopies will be accepted.

I don’t have a driving license, can I still do the tour?

Absolutely you can still do the tour! There is always room for a navigator, a comedian, a DJ and a photographer. If you don’t wanna take on these responsibilities, that’s cool too, just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Will there be toilets and showers?

Absolutely, with hot and cold water and flushing toilets a short walk from your camp.

What do I do if I need help with my tour booking?

What if something comes up and I can't make my tour?

We get it. Life is all about the unexpected, especially when you are travelling. If you are unable to make your pre-arranged tour you will need to reach out to our support email so we can give you a helping hand. In all cases we strongly recommend having a valid travel insurance policy which covers you for unexpected cancellations.
