While all packages stay at social hostels and include group tours, the 28-Day Solo Traveller Special is specifically designed with solo adventurers in mind. It includes the most social accommodation options, group tours with maximum interaction opportunities, and even extras like dolphin kayaking and Everglades tours where you’ll naturally connect with others. That said, the 21-Day and 32-Day packages are also brilliant for solo travellers – you’ll be on the same tours and in the same hostels as dozens of other adventurers. The 14-Day Express moves quite fast, so there’s less downtime for socializing, but you’ll still meet plenty of people on tours.

The main extras you’ll need to budget for are meals (except where specified), drinks, and any optional activities you want to add. Plan roughly $30-50 AUD per day for food, depending on whether you cook in hostels or eat out. Alcohol and nightlife can add up quickly in places like Sydney and Cairns. Optional activities like skydiving ($350), bungy jumping ($250), or theme parks ($100) are extra. Also budget for laundry ($4-8 per load), lockers at hostels (bring your own padlock), and souvenirs. We recommend having $1,000-1,500 AUD in spending money for the longer packages.

Absolutely! All packages can run in either direction – northbound or southbound. Many travellers actually prefer starting in Cairns and working south as the weather gets progressively cooler (especially good in summer). You can also start in Brisbane if you want to skip Sydney/Melbourne on the shorter packages. The 32-Day package can even start in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, or Cairns – completely up to you. Just specify your preferred direction when booking, and we’ll arrange everything accordingly.

We get it – plans change! All packages come with flexible booking options. If you book an open-dated ticket, it’s valid for 12 months from purchase date, and you can lock in your exact dates whenever you’re ready (subject to availability). If you’ve booked specific dates, changes made 30+ days before departure are usually free. Changes within 30 days may incur fees depending on the suppliers involved. The best part?
