Supplier Terms & Conditions

Skydive Australia Terms & Conditions

The following are the terms of trade of “Skydive Australia” (“SA”).

Acceptance of Booking Terms and Conditions:
Confirmation of a booking and authorisation of payment indicates acceptance of these booking terms and conditions. You also agree to further indemnify SA, it’s associate companies, directors and associates against any risk or action related to your participation in your skydive.

Making a Reservation for Others:
If you have made a reservation on behalf of others, you will be considered as the ‘Group Organiser’. It is your responsibility to ensure all members of the group are informed and aware of SA’s Booking Terms & Conditions. Group Organisers are responsible for providing names of all individuals in their group, who wish to skydive together.

Last minute additions to group bookings are required to pay in full prior to arrival at the Drop Zone. If additions are made to the group on the day, it is likely the whole group may incur a delay to their jump time. In some instances may have to wait until the conclusion of the day’s bookings before skydiving. While SA endeavours to assign groups in the same load, SA reserves the right to change group configurations where necessary due to operational requirements. No refunds will be made available where SA changes the group configuration.

Availability of Jump Dates & Time Slots:
All jump dates and times are subject to availability. Always check availability and days of operation either online or with the SA reservations team. Do this prior to confirming a booking on behalf of the customer.

Location & Duration of a Tandem Skydive:
Note that all bookings are given an ‘arrival/check-in’ time only. Please note this is not a skydive ‘jump’ time. Whilst SA endeavor to complete an individual’s tandem skydive within 4 hours of arrival, SA advise arriving with no time constraints, and should plan for this to be a whole day’s activity. As safety is SA’s main concern, factors such as wind, cloud, rain, thermal turbulence etc. and other factors such as air traffic can affect the time it takes to complete the skydive activity.

Weather can change for better or worse in minutes. Customers will be unable to skydive unless they are at SA’s Drop Zone. SA utilises multiple landing sites at each of its locations. The location of the landing site for each parachute drop may vary depending on weather conditions, with the focus being on customer safety. Customers must remain with their Tandem Master and listen to their instructions. Landing areas may present additional hazards such as sand dunes, tides, or local wildlife. Refunds or compensation will not be made if a spectator does not witness a landing.

Personal Identification:
Make sure that everyone in your group has valid photo ID on arrival on the day of your skydive.

Age Requirements:
By regulation the minimum age to tandem skydive in Australia is 16 years old. SA must be notified in writing prior to the jump date if a customer is between 16 and 18 years of age. They must have parental or legal guardian consent. If under 18 years old, a parent or legal guardian must be present at the drop zone on the day of the skydive. If a parent or legal guardian is not present, the customer must notify a member of staff. They will arrange for the correct documents of consent to be sent and signed prior to skydiving.

Weight Requirements and Surcharges:
Weight is an important factor in Skydiving and Aviation. It affects aircraft weights and balances, fuel allowances, climb rates and equipment maintenance. Once at the drop zone, all customers are subject to a weight assessment by a Drop Zone Safety Officer or Tandem Master. This is due to restrictions to the harness size, weather conditions and safety reasons. Click for more information and FAQs.

If a customer weighs over 94kgs, our Reservations team must be notified in writing prior to the jump date. The following weight surcharges will apply (payable at the drop zone):

94kg – 104kgs = $55.00 AUD
105kg – 114kgs = $80.00 AUD*
115kgs and over = $105.00 AUD**

*Customers weighing over 105kgs will require an additional assessment by our Drop Zone Safety Officer or Tandem Master. This is due to restrictions to the harness size, weather conditions and safety reasons.

**Note that weight cut-off limits apply and vary by drop zone and by day. At most drop zones, the maximum limit is 110-115kgs. Customers weighing over 110kgs may be able to jump. However this is subject to availability of qualified tandem masters and which drop zone they wish to jump at.

Medical Conditions:
Skydive Australia must be notified prior to the jump date of any pre-existing or existing medical conditions, injuries or illnesses. You will also be asked when you check in and may require an assessment from our Safety Officer. Medical conditions which could affect the customer’s safety should be discussed with a doctor to ensure customers are fit to skydive. If required, bring a medical certificate with you from your doctor confirming you are okay to participate in a skydive.

Please advise SA if you are taking prescription medication. It is our obligation to inform you that if you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms, sinus or ear equalising issues on the day of your skydive, it may potentially lead to further health complications during or after your jump, and we urge you to proceed with caution. Read more about it here or contact us if you wish to ask any questions before booking.

Consumption of Alcohol or ‘Recreational’ Drugs:
No alcohol or “recreational” drugs are to be consumed within 8 hours prior to the scheduled skydive jump time. For the safety of all customers and staff, SA reserves the right to refuse customers who are suspected of being intoxicated or having impaired judgment. This does not constitute a claim for a refund.

Restrictions for Scuba Diving:
Due to medical restrictions, you must not scuba dive within 24 hours of the scheduled skydive jump time.

Restrictions on Personal Equipment:
For the safety of all customers and in accordance with skydive regulations, the use of all electronic devices, including personal camera and video equipment is not permitted on the aircraft or at any time during the jump. SA does not take responsibility for any personal belongings lost during a skydive including glasses or clothing.

Purchasing Photos and Videos:
It is not mandatory to book a video or photographs, but it is advisable. On some occasions a late change of mind may result in disappointment. If you have purchased a video package through SA, it will be tested on the day of your tandem skydive. Then made available for viewing on the same day. Your acceptance of the video on the day will be deemed as your approval of it being in full working order. No refunds will be made available after your departure from our offices for those videos that are considered not to be in full working order.

Please be advised that should there be any technical issues relating to camera/dubbing equipment, no refunds can be made for the individual skydive as the filming and skydive are two separate products. If we are unable to provide you with the skydive video or photo product due to technical issues a refund for the video or photo product purchased will be issued. If only a portion of your video or photo product fails you will be issued with a refund for the balance of the amount paid less the value of the product actually received.

Copyright Photos and Videos:
Videos and photographs purchased through SA remain the copyright of the videographer who took the footage. They own and retain the right to the footage and photographs. A licence agreement exists between SA and the respective videographer who took the respective footage. Such footage may be used by SA for company marketing purposes and reproduction of videos sold. These may only be used or reproduced by the purchaser or recipient for private or domestic purposes and must not be used for any commercial purpose, including promotion of any supplier or any supplier’s products or services without the videographer’s and SA’s prior permission. Should you not want any of your footage or photographs uploaded to SA social media platforms, or used in company marketing, it is your responsibility to advise our SA staff prior to your jump.

Australian Parachute Federation (APF):
APF Membership is mandatory for all tandem skydive customers. The APF membership levy is included in the price of your tandem skydive. There are no other hidden fees or prices. Wherever possible, all customers must pre-register with the APF before arriving at the drop zone. Links to the APF form may be found on your confirmation email. All payments and documents must be completed prior to skydiving.

Online Check-in Form (APF Registration):
All customers must complete an online check-in form including pre-registration with the Australian Parachute Federation (APF) before arriving at the drop zone. Links to the online check-in form may be found on the confirmation email, emailed or sent via a text message prior to arrival, or on a mobile device on arrival at the skydive drop zone. All documents must be completed by the Guest and not the Agent, prior to skydiving. A safety briefing and gear-up must be completed by the Guest on arrival.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI):
This is included in the cost of your skydive for customers between the ages of 16 – 75 years. For further information please consult the product disclosure statement on the APF website.

SA Changes to Product & Pricing:
SA reserves the right to change any pricing, special offers, products and packages without notice.

Payment Policy:
All payments are non-refundable. Full prepayment is required at the time of booking. Alternatively, a $50 (per person) deposit may be paid when booking over the phone or online. The remaining balance must be paid at least 72 hours prior to arrival at the drop zone. For bookings confirmed within 72 hours of arrival, full payment must be made at the time of booking. Cash payments are not accepted at the drop zone.

Credit Card Surcharges:
Credit card payments for skydive bookings, which are processed over the phone directly by our Reservations team or via our direct online booking cart, will not attract credit card surcharges. Payments processed at the drop zones will attract credit card surcharges which are as follows – Visa/Mastercard/AliPay/WeChatPay: 0.8%, AMEX/JCB: 1.6%, UnionPay: 2%. Credit card surcharges are subject to change and are non-refundable.

Cancellations and No Shows by a Customer:
Notice of a cancellation must be provided by email to SA Reservations. Cancellations of one or more customers received any time (including customers who do not show at the drop zone on the jump date) will incur a cancellation fee of 100% of the total booking value.

Amendments by a Customer:
Any amendment to the scheduled jump date or time within 24 hours of the jump date, will be subject to a rebooking fee of $100 per person. Name changes must be provided by email to SA Reservations, however will not incur a fee. A booking can be rescheduled any number of times, however the booking will only remain valid for a period of 12 months from the original jump date. After this date, all payments will be forfeited, and no refunds will be given.

Customer’s Change of Mind:
Payments will be forfeited, and no refunds will be given to a customer who fails to go through with a skydive or decides to change to a different experience of a lesser value.

Changes by SA to a Confirmed Skydive:
To ensure the highest standards are maintained, SA reserves the right to reschedule or alter a tandem skydive with no prior notification. These changes do not constitute a claim for a refund and include changes to type of aircraft used, drop zone, check in time, jump time, number of participants in a plane, altitude reached, duration of free fall and location. Providing customers with a 100% safe and amazing experience is our number one focus.

Cancellations or Changes by SA due to Weather:
If a skydive is cancelled due to weather, SA will endeavour to rebook the jump on a suitable alternative date before leaving the drop zone. The Guest may also rebook at an alternative Skydive Australia drop zone location. If the location change is of a lesser retail amount SA will refund the difference, however if the new Skydive retail price is greater than $50 the guest must pay the difference. If the guest is changing to an experience of a higher booking value including upgrading to a higher jump height, changing to a weekend and public holiday, changing products, packages or skydive locations. Customers will not be due a refund if changing to an experience of a lesser booking value.

Refunds:
In the event a refund is required, funds will only be processed and returned to the original form of payment.

Data Protection & Privacy Policy:
SA has implemented in accordance with all the applicable data protection, the necessary organisation and technical security measures within their scope to guarantee person data protection, and avoid its alternation, loss, illegal use and non-authorised access. SA is dedicated to keeping your details private. Click here for our full Privacy Policy.

Risk Warning:
Your participation in parachuting activities is inherently dangerous and may involve risks. These risks include, but are not limited to those arising from prevailing conditions such as weather or health conditions you may have. Despite careful packing, the parachute may open abruptly or not open correctly which may result in injury. Unintended incidents may occur during the aircraft flight, descent or on landing.

Parachuting at your own risk:
Any person parachuting, training to parachute, flying in any aircraft being used for parachuting or participating in any activity carried out by Skydive Australia may only do so on the distinct understanding that they do so entirely at their own risk.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time to book my skydive?

We recommend choosing a time as early as possible in the day to maximise the chance that you jump. This is due to weather conditions changing during the day.

Is there an age limit?

By law the minimum age to tandem skydive in Australia is 16 years old. If under 18 years old, a parent or legal guardian must be present on the day of the jump.

Is there a maximum weight limit?

Weight is an important factor in skydiving and aviation. It affects aircraft weights and balances, fuel allowances, climb rates and equipment maintenance. Once at the drop zone, all customers are subject to a weight assessment by a Tandem Master. While we’d absolutely love for everyone to be able to go skydiving, there are some limitations when it comes to weight. Please contact the drop zone you are jumping at directly to find out the weight limit specific to that location. Everyone is weighed at check in, so if you weigh 94kg or over (including clothing and shoes), surcharges will apply.

Why do you have weight surcharges?

The weight surcharge is necessary as the more weight in the harness, the more stress it puts on the equipment requiring it to be maintained a lot more frequently. Skydiving is obviously a very physically demanding job for the Tandem Masters, a job which is made harder with every extra kilogram. Only certain highly experienced Tandem Masters are qualified and capable of taking customers over the 94kg threshold. If you exceed the Drop Zones safe maximum weight or if the Safety Officer believes you should not jump you may be eligible for a refund, or we will simply reschedule you to another day when weather conditions are more suitable.

What should I wear on my skydive?

The recommended attire is to wear loose, casual clothing, such as active wear, jeans, or tracksuit pants, and you must wear fully enclosed shoes. Anything with heels including hiking boots are not appropriate.

What if it is windy or raining on the day of my skydive?

Don’t worry – if the weather is unfavourable on the day of your booking, you will have your jump rescheduled to another date that best suits you! Your skydiving team will make all weather decisions on the day.

We never recommend going off the forecast as this is never correct and you may end up cancelling on a day that ends up being beautiful, missing your chance to jump on your preferred day. If there is heavy rain, strong wind or low thick cloud coverage your supplier will cancel and reschedule the jumps if the weather does not clear. However If it is partly cloudy or there are a few showers you can jump through or around this without it affecting the experience.

If you’ve booked already expect to get a text message the day before to confirm if there are time changes. The suppliers make daily weather assessments, if they need to cancel or delay a jump they can do so on the day and let you know. If you’ve not yet booked we recommend doing so, and if for whatever reason they need to cancel or postpone you can reschedule to another day within 12 months. If you are unable to re-book as you will be leaving the state or country you are eligible for a refund.

How long will my skydive take?

A skydive round trip will usually take about 3-4 hours, but expect that it can turn into a full day due to unforeseen delays like weather or air traffic control. Avoid booking anything in for the rest of the day just to be safe, as we don’t want you missing a bus, flight, or another tour if the jump gets delayed.

Can I go skydiving if I have recently been scuba diving?

You cannot. You must ensure you have not been scuba diving 24 hours prior to skydiving, or more if you completed multiple dives, due to altitude change and pressure.

Can I go skydiving if I am pregnant?

Unfortunately not. Skydiving is not safe if you are pregnant and there are strict policies which do not allow anyone to skydive if pregnant.

How far in advance should I book?

Bookings can be made from one day before, to a maximum of six months in advance. In peak summer season one to two weeks advance notice is strongly recommended. The sooner you book the more chance you have of skydiving on your preferred date.

What if my preferred time is unavailable?

Give us a call, we’ll try to work with you to find another date and time that suits.

Do you offer video and photo packages?

Abso-bloody-lutely! The most popular package is the Handicam Video & Photo Package, which is $179 per person. Handicam photos only are $129 per person. All dropzones offer this package. Dedicated photos and video is $269 per person and filmed by a separate skydiver or the Ultimate photos and video combining both dedicated outside camera and handicam technology, is $339 per person. Dedicated and Ultimate cannot be booked in advance – only on the day of the skydive. Handicam only can be added when you book above.

How do I book a video and photo package?

We offer the Handicam Photo and Video Packages at all dropzones. This can be added to your booking above or you can choose to purchase on arrival. Dedicated and Ultimate packages can only be purchased on the day, subject to availability and are only available at selected locations. Please note, credit card surcharges apply at the dropzone.

Can I take my own Go-Pro during my skydive?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately you cannot take your own Go-Pro with you on your skydive. The tandem instructors actually have to obtain an additional license to be qualified to carry a camera in freefall, and in order to obtain that license, they need to: – Do a minimum of 100 jumps. – Complete 20 landings within 10m of the target. – Complete 5 consecutive nominated landings within 20m of the target. This is on top of all the other training they need to complete to become a solo skydiver and tandem instructor in the first place!

Can I wear my dentures?

We recommend removing any loose items before your skydive, including dentures or false teeth. If you have any questions at all, please ask the friendly staff when you arrive at the drop zone.

Can I wear my prescription glasses or contact lenses while skydiving?

YES! There are goggles available that will fit over your glasses/contacts, leaving you to take in those EPIC views. However please let your instructor know if you are wearing contact lenses.

How many people can go up in the plane at once?

The number of tandems that can be taken on a plane can vary depending on which location you choose and what is available, it can be anywhere from 5 – 9 tandems on one plane together. This can never be guaranteed as this also depends on instructor availability, however, the suppliers will do their best to get your group jumping together.

I have arrived for my skydive and I am feeling really nervous - what should I do?

Being scared is all part of the experience! Once you arrive on the day and have gone through the training and meet your instructors you’ll feel much more at ease. If you are feeling a little nervous or scared, make sure to tell your instructor so they can help ease your nerves!

What if my jump is cancelled?

If your jump has to be cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, your booking will be rescheduled to another date that suits you. If you’re not sure of a date, a ‘limbo’ credit will be issued to the value of the original skydive. A limbo credit will remain valid for a period of 12 months from the original jump date AND it can be transferred to another Skydive Australia location if you’re travelling. You will need to pay any price difference if changing to an experience of a higher booking value including upgrading to a higher jump height, changing to a weekend or public holiday, changing products, packages or skydive locations. Customers will not be due a refund if changing to an experience of a lesser booking value.

What happens if the parachute doesn’t open?

On the very rare occasion that the parachute does not open completely or properly, your instructor will release that canopy and pull the reserve parachute. All instructors jump with at least one reserve parachute, so you’re totally safe!

Do I need insurance to go skydiving?

Personal accident insurance is included in the cost of your skydive. This will cover you for up to $50,000 in medical cover. However, we always recommend your own personal travel insurance for any travelling.

World Nomads travel insurance policies offer coverage for more than 150 activities. Get a quote, make a claim, or buy or extend your policy while on the road.

We endorse the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that all travellers take out travel insurance. If you already have Travel Insurance please understand that it is your responsibility to ensure that your Travel Insurance covers you for all of the adventure style travel you have booked with us.

I have a disability - can I go skydiving?

We do our best to get everyone skydiving, however, safety comes first. Each disability is different and for this reason you will require a medical certificate from your doctor stating it is safe for you to skydive. The chief instructor will then also assess you before skydiving, the final decision is up to them and if they do not think it is safe you will not be able to skydive. You are welcome to be assessed before arriving on the day however please ensure you call on 1300 821 628 to check if there is someone at the office who is able to do the assessment.

I have a health and/or medical condition - can I go skydiving?

It is important to inform us before booking if you have had any recent injuries or surgeries, restrictions on your physical ability or have any mobility issues at all. Please advise if you suffer from epilepsy or have any heart conditions. This may mean you cannot skydive. It is our obligation to inform you that if you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms or blocked sinuses on the day of your skydive, it may potentially lead to further health complications during or after your jump. We urge you to proceed with caution.

Can I still jump if I have previously dislocated a shoulder?

Yes you can but it’s really important you tell your instructor so they can look after you and give you an alternative position during freefall.

At what height does the parachute open?

Instructors open their parachute at approximately 4,000ft.
