Departing from Darwin every Friday at 7:00 AM, this tour takes you deep into the Outback and finishes in Alice Springs on Monday. If you’re heading in the opposite direction, the reverse trip runs every Monday at 5:00 AM from Alice Springs back to Darwin. Your adventure begins in the lush landscapes of Litchfield National Park, home to spectacular waterfalls, magnetic termite mounds, and crystal-clear swimming holes perfect for cooling off in the tropical heat. From there, head south to the serene Mataranka Thermal Springs, where you can unwind in warm, mineral-rich waters beneath a canopy of palms. As the landscape shifts to the wide open spaces of the Red Centre, you’ll visit the iconic Devils Marbles (Karlu Karlu), a sacred Aboriginal site featuring massive, ancient granite boulders scattered across the desert. Day 1

Day 1: Darwin to Alice Springs

We kick off our adventure in the vibrant city of Darwin. Setting out early, we’ll head south to explore the natural wonders of Litchfield National Park. Our first stops include the crystal-clear waters of Buley Rockhole, Tolmer Falls, Florence Falls, and Wangi Falls – perfect spots to cool off and take in the breathtaking scenery. As we traverse the park, don’t miss the chance to marvel at the fascinating Magnetic and Cathedral Termite Mounds, natural architectural wonders shaped by millions of tiny engineers. As the day draws to a close, we’ll continue south to Adelaide River, where we’ll unwind and enjoy the authentic atmosphere of an iconic Outback pub.

Day 1: Alice Springs to Darwin

Our journey begins bright and early as we cross the Tropic of Capricorn, heading north to the legendary Karlu Karlu (Devils Marbles). These striking granite boulders hold deep cultural significance and are one of the region’s most iconic sights. After stretching our legs here, we’ll break for lunch at Tingkkarli (Lake Mary Ann), a peaceful spot near Tennant Creek. As evening falls, we’ll arrive at the famous Daly Waters Pub, where you can savor a classic Outback burger, enjoy live music, and soak up the genuine Aussie pub atmosphere.

Day 2

Day 2: Darwin to Alice Springs

Our second day begins with a revitalizing morning at Edith Falls in Nitmiluk National Park. Take in the stunning cascading waterfalls and cool off in the natural pools surrounded by beautiful scenery. After this refreshing start, we’ll stop in Katherine for a short break and some refreshments. In the afternoon, prepare to relax at Bitter Springs, where you can float gently down the warm, crystal-clear thermal stream on a pool noodle – pure bliss. As the day winds down, we’ll visit the therapeutic Mataranka Hot Springs to soak in the soothing warm waters. We’ll finish the evening at the legendary Daly Waters Pub, enjoying a hearty dinner and live music in a true Outback setting.

Day 2: Alice Springs to Darwin

Today, we head to Bitter Springs, one of the two natural thermal pools in Elsey National Park near Mataranka, where you can drift along the warm, clear stream and unwind completely. Afterward, we’ll stop in Katherine for lunch before spending the afternoon at Edith Falls in Nitmiluk National Park. Here, you have the option to relax by the waterfalls or take a refreshing swim in one of the park’s pristine natural pools. As the day comes to a close, we’ll head to a classic Outback pub in Adelaide River, where you can soak up the local atmosphere and share stories with fellow travelers.

Day 3

Day 3: Alice Springs to Darwin

Our journey starts early as we head southward through Tennant Creek and continue to the mesmerizing Karlu Karlu (Devils Marbles). We will stop here to explore and enjoy a refreshing lunch. Immerse yourself in the rich cultural history and marvel at the geological wonders of these unique rock formations. After exploring this significant site, we’ll carry on our journey south, crossing the symbolic Tropic of Capricorn. As the sun sets, we’ll arrive in Alice Springs, marking the end of our unforgettable adventure.

Day 3: Darwin to Alice Springs

On the last leg of our journey, we dive into the wonders of Litchfield National Park, exploring Wangi Falls, Florence Falls, Tolmer Falls, and Buley Rockhole for more swim spots and breathtaking scenery. Along the way, you’ll also see the famous Magnetic and Cathedral Termite mounds. We’ll arrive in Darwin in the afternoon, wrapping up a tour full of unforgettable moments and authentic Outback charm.

Do I need to reconfirm my bookings?

All Mulgas bookings must be reconfirmed 48 hours in advance by contacting your tour provider directly using the contact information listed on your tour voucher.

What should I do if my trip is cancelled due to bad weather?

You may either re-schedule directly with the supplier or you can email our support team on [email protected] and include your voucher number, name of product you booked, planned departure date and your contact details. Once you’ve emailed us, you can drop us a line at +61 2 5633 1149.

What are the requirements to go on this tour?

Our tours involve participating in a number of outdoor activities such as hiking, sleeping on the ground in a swag, collecting firewood, participating in cooking meals. This is why we have age restrictions of 18-49 years old.

These restrictions are in place so everyone involved can have an enjoyable time on tour with us, we want to ensure you are comfortable and can participate in these activities so you don’t miss out on the full outback experience!

What is a swag?

A swag is a traditional Australian bedroll that has been used by bushmen and travelers for centuries. It’s essentially a portable sleeping unit that combines a mattress, bedding, and a weatherproof outer layer, all rolled into one compact and easy-to-carry bundle. Swags are designed to provide comfort, warmth, and protection from the elements, making them ideal for camping and outdoor adventures in the Australian Outback. With a swag, you can enjoy a cozy night’s sleep under the stars, enveloped by the sounds of nature. Swags are used on our Uluru tours for the authentic Aussie way of camping.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes we do. We can cater for vegetarians, coeliac, lactose-intolerant, vegans and pescatarians.

What do I do if I need help with an existing booking?

Some tours have extra costs and you should be aware that there may be added expenses. These expenses will differ for each service provider, but some of the more usual extras are: EMC tax, stinger suit hire, luggage storage, sleeping bag hire, linen hire, national park fee, food, insurance, accommodation, equipment hire, petrol levy, etc. We will alert you to extra costs to the extent reasonably practicable. However, you must also check with each individual service provider when you re-confirm your booking.

Do I need travel insurance?

We endorse the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that all travellers take out travel insurance. If you already have travel insurance, please understand that it is your responsibility to ensure that your travel insurance covers you for all of the adventure style travel you have booked with us.

Do you offer payment plans?

Absolutely, we understand that paying off a big trip in one go isn’t always that easy. We offer flexible payment plans to suit all types of travellers with zero interest or fee’s (minimum $100AUD deposit required).
