Cambodia & Vietnam Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Siem Reap

Today is the start of your epic 23 day Cambodia & Vietnam Explorer adventure. Arrive in Siem Reap, a small but mighty city in the north of Cambodia and gateway to one of the most beautiful sites and landmarks, Angkor Wat. After arriving, relax and enjoy the city. Head out to the legendary Pub Street for themed bars, wonderful food, fun market stalls and endless neon lights.

Day 2: Cambodian Rural Experience

Today will be a truly exclusive adventure as you take part in a Cambodia Rural experience. Join a local Cambodian mango/rice farmer and learn what it takes to harvest everyone’s favourite tropical fruit. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to savour the delicious mangoes too. Then, visit the floating village where your local guide lives and take in this totally unique experience. Tonight, it’s back to the city to enjoy a sunset BBQ and an early night as you’ll be up early for another exciting adventure tomorrow.

Day 3: Angkor Wat Sunrise

Rise and shine, today will be one for the memory books. You can’t leave Siem Reap without visiting the world’s biggest religious monument, Angkor Wat. A massive 500 acre site with ancient and beautiful temples, ruins, and one of the most glorious sunrises you’ll ever see. Explore the unforgettable site and take in the magnificent detail of the overrun ruins and the pristine temples. Then tonight enjoy another evening making your way through every bar on Pub Street before tomorrow’s adventures to the capital of Cambodia.

Day 4: Travel to Phnom Penh

Wave goodbye to Siem Reap and head towards Cambodia’s capital city, Phnom Penh. Stop off on the way in the countryside for a spot of lunch. Take in the beautiful surroundings and enjoy some delicious food. Get checked into your Phnom Penh accommodation and freshen up, ready to head out for an evening stroll and dinner at a riverside restaurant. Get your bargain on at the night market and head to the bars for an enjoyable night on the town.

Day 5: The Killing Fields

If there’s one place every person should visit at some point in their life, it’s the Killing Fields, the location of a haunting Cambodian genocide. It’s a heavy one, and the devastating effects can still be felt today. It’s a story that will stay with you but it’s a huge and integral part of Cambodia’s recent history that shaped their modern culture, making it something anyone visiting should take the time to learn about. After a humbling visit, head back for dinner and spend the rest of your evening in whatever way you like. Hang out with your travel mates, enjoy a stroll through the city, or find a bar – whatever suits you.

Day 6: Travel to Kampot

It’s time to travel to the riverside town of Kampot, surrounded by stunning mountain views and picturesque scenery. First stop is at Arcadia Waterpark, a place of lush greenery, cool waters, slushy cocktails, rope swings and pontoons. The perfect place to let your hair down, and spend some quality time with your group. Enjoy a chilled afternoon sunbathing on the riverbank with a cold beer or a meander in a kayak. Or for something a bit more thrilling, jump on ‘The Blob’, a giant inflatable that flings you into the air, before you crash into the water, trying not to lose your swimmers. Super fun!

Day 7: Pepper Plantations & Cooking Class

Today you’ll head to a local pepper plantation where you can learn everything you need to know about farming the famous Kampot peppers. Then it’s time to use your newfound pepper knowledge to cook a delicious, traditional Khmer meal, learning from the best in a traditional Cambodian cooking class. In the evening, make your way in and out of the quaint streets lined by faded blue and green wood shutters, and down to the waterside for a dinner overlooking the river.

Day 8: Travel to Koh Rong

I’m sure after a few days exploring the mainland you’re more than ready for another island adventure. It’s time to head over to Koh Rong, Cambodia’s secluded paradise. Travel by boat and be greeted by white, immaculate beaches and swaying palms. Spend the afternoon kayaking, paddleboarding, or relaxing in the hammocks. Be sure to hop on the sea swings for an insta-worthy shot. Lay back on the idyllic beaches, cocktail in hand, as you watch the sun set on a beautiful day.

Day 9: Koh Rong

Today is all about chilling out and living that island lifestyle. Have a lie in, stroll along the perfect beaches and take a morning dip in the tranquil water. Explore the island like a local in a traditional longtail boat, or have a go at fishing the way the islanders do. Soak up some sun, snorkel over the reefs, then join the crew for a delicious BBQ lunch on a secluded bay. Day 11: Travel to Ho Chi Minh

Another day, another country. It’s finally time to travel to Vietnam, with so many incredible adventures still ahead of you. Today you can relax after arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, the vibrant capital of the south. Head out in the afternoon in search of delicious food markets and exciting bars to spend your first night.

Day 12: Explore the Cu Chi Tunnels

Today you head to the Cu Chi Tunnels so make sure you have comfortable footwear and brace yourself for an inspiring day ahead. The tunnels you’re about to explore were made in the late 1940s and used for all kinds of purposes, from sheltering soldiers to delivering supplies and even laying booby traps. You’ll see how small some of the tunnels are, only 80cm wide and 80cm high, and you’ll also have the opportunity to get a close-up look at the tunnels and explore some of the underground hiding holes. You’ll learn about the history of Vietnam and understand the struggles and obstacles faced by the people here only 70 years ago.

Day 13: Ho Chi Minh Walking Tour & Museum

You have the day to truly explore the fascinating history of one of the world’s most hospitable and beautiful countries. Begin with a walking tour of Ho Chi Minh, learn about its troubled past and marvel at some of the city’s iconic landmarks. Then head to the Ho Chi Minh War Museum and learn about what happened 50 years ago during the Vietnam War and how its events still impact many people’s lives today. Later, walk to the famous Independence Palace before continuing onto the cathedral and post office. Try some more Vietnamese cuisine at the local food market before heading to the airport ready to fly to Hoi An.

Day 14: Hoi An Lantern Making & Tailors

Wake up in Hoi An, a World Heritage Site well known for its magnificent beauty and famous Vietnamese lanterns. Follow the local’s tips and try your hand at transforming a piece of silk into your very own lantern. Hoi An is also famous for styling, designing, and creating clothes exactly how you want them so later, visit a local tailor and see how they create and design these customised pieces of clothing. After, visit an amazing local coffee shop where the owner grows his own coffee beans and products, arguably the best Vietnamese coffee in the country. Taste some delicious coffee and learn about the developing and roasting process. You then have the afternoon to explore as you please.

Day 15: Hoi An

Today is a free day in Hoi An so you can choose to sleep in, take a walk along the riverside, head to the local beach, or visit the famous Ba Na Hills Golden Bridge – the choice is yours! Hoi An is a relaxing and quieter part of Vietnam, with beautiful bridges and small roads so head out and explore.

Day 16: Basket Boat & Bike Rides

Begin the day with a morning bike ride through the local countryside and village. Arrive at Coconut Woods before heading out on a basket boat – a traditional Vietnamese vessel used to crab fish for centuries and guaranteed to get you laughing senseless! Slip, slide and splash your way down the river and attempt to admire the stunning surroundings at the same time. Visit a local family for a culinary experience and head out for your final night in Hoi An. Grab dinner and drinks and raise a glass to a fantastic day out.

Day 17: Hai Van Pass

It’s time to conquer the Hai Van Pass! Say goodbye to Hoi An and head out on the open road in open top jeeps. Admire the spectacular scenery on the drive to the city of Hue, stop for some pics, grab lunch and remember your swimsuit for a dip in the tropical waters. Enjoy the drive along this famous route with the wind in your hair and music blasting. Arrive in Hue in the afternoon, check-in and chill out. Later, grab dinner and explore Hue’s nightlife by trying some local beers and rice wine. Dance the night away after another iconic day.

Day 18: Vietnamese Cooking Class

Today it’s time to immerse yourself in the history of Hue. Once home to Emperors, the remnants of their reign are evident all over the city, most prominently within the walls of the Imperial City itself. Head along the perfume river and arrive at a tranquil garden where you can relax before getting ready to cook up a storm. Join a traditional Vietnamese cooking class and learn how to make the traditional dishes you’ve been devouring for the past week. Enjoy your culinary masterpieces before waving goodbye to Hue and heading onto your next destination of Ninh Binh.

Day 19: Ninh Binh

Welcome to Ninh Binh. This beautiful city is full of untouched caves and small surrounding islands so it’s time to explore. Jump aboard a paddleboat tour and admire the stunning scenery of emerald-green forests and rice paddies before heading to Tam Coc Valley. This is one of Vietnam’s true hidden gems where you’ll discover limestone hills amongst luscious trees. Spend the afternoon as you please and, if you fancy, there is an option to cycle around and snap those insta-worthy shots. In the mid-afternoon, head to the Hang Mua viewpoint and admire the spectacular views of the area. Later, grab dinner and beers and watch the sunset over the mountains – incredible.

Day 20: Halong Bay Cruise

It’s time to visit one of the most iconic places on your tour – Halong Bay. Known for its green sea and 1,600 limestone islands scattered around the bay, this is a must-see on your Vietnam trip. Leave Ninh Binh in the early morning before traveling to Halong Bay and boarding the boat. Enjoy lunch onboard with the most incredible backdrop and then it’s time to set sail into the tropical oasis. After a day on the water, learn how to make spring rolls before watching the sunset on deck and sharing a few beers with your friends. Does it get any better than this?

Day 21: Halong Bay Views

Arrive in the late afternoon and head out to explore before meeting up with the group for dinner and drinks – it’s time to experience Hanoi’s incredible nightlife!

Day 22: Hanoi

Start the morning by trying one of Vietnam’s favourite drinks; a traditional egg coffee. Enjoy a demonstration on how these drinks are made before taking the rest of the day to explore Hanoi at your own pace. Head to the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi Opera House, or many more of the city’s iconic landmarks. It’s then time to end another incredible day by hitting the town so get dressed up for your final big night with the group.

Do I need to reconfirm my bookings?

All bookings must be reconfirmed 48 hours in advance by contacting your tour provider directly using the contact information listed on your tour voucher.

What should I do if my trip is cancelled due to bad weather?

You may either re-schedule directly with the supplier or you can email our support team on [email protected] and include your voucher number, name of product you booked, planned departure date and your contact details. Once you’ve emailed us, you can drop us a line at +61 2 5633 1149.

Do you book tours with flexible dates? If so, how long are they valid for?

Yes, we do have open dated/flexible tickets available. Most tour vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of purchase, however please be aware that you may be subject to supplier price fluctuations. All ticket validity is specified on the tour voucher. If you are unsure of the validity of your voucher, just ask one of our wonderful staff.

What do I do if I need help with an existing booking?

Some tours have extra costs and you should be aware that there may be added expenses.
