Darwin, Kakadu & Katherine Adventure Package From $1,959pp

Unleash your wild side across Darwin & Kakadu on this eight day semi-guided adventure!

The Northern Territory’s Top End is one of those rare parts of the world that genuinely lives up to the hype, and this eight-day semi-guided package is designed to make sure you experience every side of it. Start in Darwin, where you’ll tear across the harbour on a jet ski and spend a day getting uncomfortably close to the world’s largest saltwater crocodiles at Crocosaurus Cove. Then leave the city behind and head deep into Kakadu National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage-listed wilderness of escarpments, floodplains, and ancient rock art sites that tell the stories of Australia’s First Nations people across 65,000 years of history.

The adventure continues through Litchfield’s thundering waterfalls, the ancient gorges of Nitmiluk, the soothing thermal pools of Mataranka, and back to Darwin for a Harbour Sunset Cruise to close out the trip in style.

Eight days. The entire Top End.

This package departs every Sunday and Wednesday from Darwin and is perfect for solo travellers, couples, and small groups looking to make the most out of their time up north.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive and Explore Darwin

Touch down in the Top End and check in to your Darwin hostel. The rest of the day is yours to get acquainted with one of Australia’s most unique cities. Stroll along the Darwin Waterfront Precinct and take a dip in the wave lagoon, wander through the historic Smith Street Mall, or head out to East Point Reserve for sweeping views over Fannie Bay. As the sun dips low, make your way to the Darwin Esplanade for golden hour views over the Timor Sea – the perfect welcome to the Top End. Tonight, hit the town at Mayberry, Monsoons, Discovery, Youth Shack, or MoM.

Day 2: Chill, Thrill, and Sunset Markets

Start your morning at Crocosaurus Cove with your included day pass. Get face-to-face with the world’s largest captive saltwater crocodiles, hand-feed baby crocs, and if you’re brave enough, step into the infamous Cage of Death for a once-in-a-lifetime encounter. In the afternoon, hit the water and tear across Darwin Harbour on a jet ski — wide open water, big tropical skies, and pure adrenaline. Wind down the evening at the legendary Mindil Beach Sunset Markets, where you can graze on international street food, browse local art and crafts, and watch one of the most spectacular sunsets on the planet melt into the Timor Sea.

Day 3: Into Kakadu

Set off from Darwin into the breathtaking Wetlands Region, where birdlife is abundant and crocodiles lurk in the shallows. Continue into Kakadu and settle into your campsite in Jabiru. Stop by the Bowali Visitor Centre to get acquainted with the park’s ecology and landscapes before heading to Cahills Crossing on the Kakadu/Arnhem Land border. Take in the ancient Aboriginal rock art at Ubirr Rock, then make the short climb to one of the Territory’s most famous viewpoints for a sunset over the Nadab Floodplain that you won’t forget. Wind down the evening with a shared dinner and a sky full of stars.

Day 4: Kakadu Waterfalls

An early alarm kicks off a day of hiking and swimming through some of Kakadu’s most spectacular scenery. Pick your way through monsoon rainforest and rocky escarpments before cooling off in the crystal-clear waters of Gunlom Falls, Jim Jim Falls, or Motor Car Falls – chosen to suit the group’s fitness on the day. Stop in at the Warradjan Cultural Centre to connect with the traditional stories and artefacts of the local Bininj people. Back at camp, a hearty dinner and a well-earned sleep await.

Day 5: Head to Katherine

Discover the powerful rock art of Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) and take in sweeping views from the Kunwarddewardde and Nawurlandja lookouts. A picnic lunch beside the beautiful Barramundi Gorge (Maguk) Waterfall is followed by a refreshing dip in its natural plunge pool – best suited to those with moderate to high fitness. Then it’s a scenic drive south through Kakadu to your private Katherine campsite for another evening under a brilliant outback sky.

Day 6: Nitmiluk National Park

Start early for the 2-hour Katherine Gorge cruise through Nitmiluk, drifting between towering 70-metre sandstone walls alive with wildlife and Jawoyn creation stories. For an even more dramatic perspective, optional scenic helicopter flights offer stunning aerial views across the gorge system. Spend the afternoon unwinding at Edith Falls, where a large plunge pool sits beneath a series of cascading tiers. Return to camp in time for sunset, a campfire, and one of the Territory’s finest stargazing skies.

Day 7: Litchfield National Park & Return to Darwin

Head north into Litchfield National Park, a tropical escape of lush rainforest pockets, dramatic termite mounds, and some of the Territory’s best swimming holes. Pause to take in the striking magnetic termite mounds before cooling off at Buley Rockholes, Wangi Falls, Florence Falls, or Tolmer Falls. After an unforgettable five days in the Top End, relax on the drive back to Darwin – you’ve earned it.

Day 8: Final Day in Darwin & Farewell

Your last day in the Top End –  make the most of it. Spend the morning taking a leisurely East Point Mangrove Walk along the water’s edge. Head down to the Darwin Waterfront Dock One for a long lunch with harbour views, then visit the Defence of Darwin Experience to close out the cultural side of the trip. On Saturdays, the Infinity Pool Bar and Mindil Beach Casino make for an unforgettable farewell. Check out with a camera roll full of memories and stories worth telling for years to come!
