Fly past False Cape, where remnants of WWII defenses still stand, then take in the sights of Mt Yarrabah, Mission Bay, and Cape Grafton. From there, head towards the inner edge of the Reef and Green Island, a 6,000-year-old coral sand island with its own native rainforest ecosystem.
Heading north, explore the western side of Arlington Reef, home to a rich diversity of marine life including turtles, sharks, and manta rays. Continue northward to circle Vlasoff Cay, a tiny sand island in the middle of the reef, which shrinks to just a few hundred square meters at high tide. If you wish to land on Vlasoff Cay, book the Coral Cay Great Barrier Reef tour instead to take the opportunity to get your feet wet and sandy while capturing the ultimate Instagram shot.
From Vlasoff Cay, journey west over Upolu Cay and back to Cairns, taking in the fantastic views of the North Queensland coastline framed by the lush rainforest-covered eastern slopes of the Great Dividing Range.
Select your time slot when booking your helicopter trip. Please be at the meeting point at least 15 minutes before take off. Lift off and enjoy 30 minutes of breathtaking views soaring above the inner Great Barrier Reef. The flight path takes you past Cape Grafton, Mt Yarrabah, and Green Island. Then enjoy panoramic views of Cairns City as you head back to land.

We recommend you bring sunglasses, sunscreen and a smile. Of course, feel free to bring your camera, however, there will be four HD onboard video cameras to capture your spectacular multi-viewpoint experience.
A scenic helicopter flight over the Great Barrier Reef is absolutely worthy of being on your bucket list. It offers the magnificence of seeing it all from above which will brig you an entirely different perspective of the vast beauty of the reef.
July and August are generally the best times to see migrating whales in Cairns. This is due to the cooler water temperatures at that time, and what better way to see a Humpback or Dwarf Minke Whale than from above on your very own Cairns helicopter tour.
With an abundance of marine life on the Great Barrier Reef, it’s likely that you will see some, if not all of the following on your Cairns helicopter tour:
Sharks
Dolphins
Turtles
Manta rays
Whales – seasonal
Dugongs
