18 Day Islands & Northern Thailand Guided Group Tour

Take 18 days to discover the fascinating Thailand together with an epic group of travellers. The 18 Day Islands & Northern Thailand Group Tour will be adventurous from the second your trip starts, your first instinct will be that you will want to charge your camera to capture each incredible experience on this trip.

First off, you will start in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok. Here, you will experience Thailand’s interesting culture up close and personal by riding a long-tail boat through Bangkok’s canals, touring historic temples, and navigating around the city by tuk tuk. You will also learn how to make traditional Thai food before traveling farther south.

Your next stop on this 18 day Thailand intro tour will be the scenic Khao Sok National Park, which will welcome you with its impressive limestone cliffs and lovely lakes. Go on to Koh Phangan, which is renowned for having some of Thailand’s most stunning beaches and hosting legendary full moon parties. You will try Muay Thai boxing, yoga, and, of course, BBQs on the beach. Phi Phi will be your next stop before heading on to explore the cities Phuket and Chiang Mai.

Be ready for spectacular views, dining beneath the stars, and stunning sunsets on Phi Phi. At your last stop, Chiang Mai, you will get to see the famous Doi Suthep Temple, trek through Chiang Mai’s breathtaking jungle, and even spend the night there. You’ll visit an elephant sanctuary to learn more about the country’s most sacred animal. Finally, you must now decide if it is time to head back home, stay longer in Chiang Mai, or keep traveling – perhaps alongside a new buddy you met on this incredible 18 day Islands & Northern Thailand group tour.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to visit Thailand?

The great thing about Thailand is it’s usually quite hot all year round, so it’s great to go at any time. There is a slightly higher chance of rain around July – November, however it usually only rains for an hour or so which can be a nice relief from the heat. Visiting from November – June may be a little cooler, however you’ll likely experience less rain and humidity.

How much does a Thailand trip cost?

You’ll be surprised with how cheap tours in Thailand can be! From 9 to 18 days, our classic and premium tour options include all transport, stunning accommodation, some meals, an awesome tour guide and an awesome group of new friends to travel with.

How many days should I spend in Thailand?

From years of experience operating in this beautiful country, we know 9 – 18 days is the most optimal amount of time to spend in Thailand. This gives you enough time to see the absolute best of Thailand, plus some epic hidden gems!

Do you need a visa to visit Thailand?

Most nationalities including the UK, Europe, Australia, NZ, Canada, USA, Scandinavia and Brazil do not require a visa for Thailand – you will receive a 30-day visa exemption on arrival. You will need at least 6 months remaining validity and 2 blank pages in your passport. For more information and visa updates please check the official Thailand Government website.

How much spending money do I need for 2 - 3 weeks in Thailand?

If you are doing an INTRO Travel group tour in Thailand, all of your accommodation and transport are included, plus some meals and an awesome tour guide. A traveller can expect to need £300-£400 / $600-$800 AUD / $370-$480 USD spending money on top of the tour price.

Is it worth going to Thailand for a week?

While a week can be enough time to experience the top sites and culture of Thailand we usually recommend you stay a little longer, so you can properly enjoy all of the incredible things this country has to offer without missing anything. By joining one of our group tours we’ll fit as much into the time you have available as possible, with all the best bucket list inclusions sorted for you!

What is the best way to tour Thailand?

A group tour that includes a balance of city and island stays is the best way to see Thailand! Having all of your accommodation, transport, activities and some meals already organised for you means you can fully enjoy the destination without any added stresses.

Is this trip for me?

This is a backpacker style trip, aimed at those happy to stay in nice, clean budget 2-3 star style hotels and guesthouses.

You will be on a variety of private and public transport including one overnight sleeper train in a multi-share cabin. This is a great way to experience the real Thailand.

Delicious vegetarian cuisine is plentiful in Thailand, however strict gluten free and vegan options can be harder as egg and fish sauce are common ingredients. But we will do our best to provide suitable options. A wide variety of Western meals is not common, however the authentic local food is outstanding!

When should I arrive for my tour?

It’s best to arrive on the actual start date. This is when most people arrive. There are no activities on the first day but the group gets together in the evening for a welcome dinner at around 7pm. Sometimes people like to arrive a day or two before the trip starts so they can do their own exploring or just have a bit of time to chill before all the fun begins.

Are flights included in the price?

Flights to and from Thailand are not included in the price of the tour and will need to be booked separately. However if your tour has an internal flight as part of the itinerary, then this is included!

How many people will be in my group?

Our groups usually have around 12-16 people on them, usually aged between 18 to early 40’s. We get people from all over the world on our tours, so you’ll get to bond with a wide range of travellers who all share that same passion for adventure! As long as you have an appetite for adventure and are happy bonding with people of all backgrounds, you’ll fit in perfectly!

How can I get in touch with my group leader?

You will receive a ‘welcome email’ from your group leader approx. 2 weeks before your tour begins.

What if I'm travelling solo?

If you’re struggling to convince your friends to join you on an adventure, you’re not alone!

Travelling solo on a group tour can be one of the most exciting ways to experience a new destination, and you won’t have to wait around for your mates to be ready. You leave yourself open to meeting amazing people, making new friends, and can keep yourself and your onward travel plans flexible.

The majority of our group members are solo travellers, so joining one of our group tours is a great way to meet people and make friends. Before your trip starts we’ll put you in touch with the rest of your group so you can start chatting and get to know each other. And after the trip a lot of people continue travelling with the new friends they’ve made!

What happens after my trip?

A big part of the INTRO Travel difference is our after-trip support. Your group leader will spend enough time as needed to ensure you are totally comfortable and confident with where you’re going next. And can help organise and book whatever you need, including any transport, accommodation or trips you may want. We’ll also provide 24/7 support and advice after your trip, and will always be there to help when you need it.

Do I need travel insurance?

Travel insurance is compulsory for all our trips. You’ll need to show proof of your policy to your group leader upon arrival (on your phone or printed).

World Nomads travel insurance policies offer coverage for more than 150 activities. Get a quote, make a claim, or buy or extend your policy while on the road.

We endorse the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that all travellers take out travel insurance. If you already have Travel Insurance please understand that it is your responsibility to ensure that your Travel Insurance covers you for all of the adventure style travel you have booked with us.
