Japan Tokyo to Osaka Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Tokyo

Get ready for an incredible 14 days exploring the best of Japan. Touch down in Tokyo and head to your hostel, where this evening you will meet your group with a Japanese feast welcome dinner. Then head out to explore the iconic Tokyo Senso-ji Temple by night.

Day 2: Meiji Shrine & Akihabara

Start the morning with a brief Japan Orientation, where you can learn simple phrases that will help you navigate the country. Hit up Harajuku, the birthplace of Japanese pop culture, before heading to Yoyogi Park where you’ll find the beautiful Meiji Shrine. Later on, visit the electric town of Akihabara where you’ll be greeted by neon lights and crazy shops. Play in the arcades and check out the famous Maid Cafes and grab a few beers in the local tiny bars.

Day 3: Explore Tokyo

The morning is free for you to explore Tokyo or join an exciting Sushi Making class. Finally, visit the famous Shibuya Pedestrian crossing, the busiest crossing in the world, and get that iconic vibrant Tokyo shot.

Day 4: Hakone & Mount Fuji

This morning, hop on the ‘Romance Car’ train to the stunning town of Hakone, home to the iconic Mount Fuji. Once you’ve arrived, spend the day exploring the surrounding areas. Hakone is special for its incredible food, traditional guest houses, stunning nature, and of course being able to enjoy it all with a spectacular view of the mountain. This evening, enjoy a traditional Japanese family Nabe dinner and finish the day playing some games with your group.

Day 5: Travel to Kyoto

This morning you’ll say goodbye to the beautiful Hakone and travel to the stunning and ancient city of Kyoto by bullet train. Once arrived, enjoy a guided tour of the Gion district, famous for being the Geisha district. Enjoy the sights of traditional wooden houses, cobbled streets, and catch a glimpse of a Geisha roaming in a beautiful kimono. After the tour, enjoy a Yakitori (grilled chicken sticks) at a famous restaurant for dinner.

Day 6: Kyoto Temples & Shrines

Up and out early today as you travel by subway to the famous Fushimi-Inari Shrine. Arrive early to escape the crowds and make your way through the never ending corridors of red gates. Then, head to Kiyomizu-dera temple and take in the stunning bamboo and wooden complex, sitting high on the mountain side. Finish your visit with a traditional Tea Ceremony and the chance to rent a kimono and learn about the history of the beautiful garment.

Day 7: Bamboo Forest & Monkey Mountain

Start the day with a visit to the stunning town of Arashiyama, just outside of Kyoto, home to the scenic Bamboo Forest. Surrounded by mountains and a river, this place is a real hidden gem. Take a stroll through the Bamboo Forest, climb the Monkey Park mountain, and enjoy an optional traditional Japanese boat ride through the valleys. The afternoon and evening is free for you to enjoy your last night in Kyoto as you please.

Day 8: Golden Pavilion & Osaka Food Tour

Today you’ll visit the stunning Golden Pavilion temple, with its shining golden walls reflecting on the lake surrounding it. Explore the complex and the peaceful gardens, before heading to Daitoku-ji, a quiet leafy garden full of ancient temples. Then it’s time to travel to Osaka and spend the evening exploring the famous Dotonbori district. Referred to as the ‘kitchen of Japan’ expect delicious food and bustling streets,, before ending the day with karaoke and fun times.

All bookings must be reconfirmed 48 hours in advance by contacting your tour provider directly using the contact information listed on your tour voucher.

What should I do if my trip is cancelled due to bad weather?

You may either re-schedule directly with the supplier or you can email our support team on [email protected] and include your voucher number, name of product you booked, planned departure date and your contact details. Once you’ve emailed us, you can drop us a line at +61 2 5633 1149.

Do you book tours with flexible dates? If so, how long are they valid for?

Yes, we do have open dated/flexible tickets available. Most tour vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of purchase, however please be aware that you may be subject to supplier price fluctuations. All ticket validity is specified on the tour voucher. If you are unsure of the validity of your voucher, just ask one of our wonderful staff.

What do I do if I need help with an existing booking?

Some tours have extra costs and you should be aware that there may be added expenses. These expenses will differ for each service provider, but some of the more usual extras are: EMC tax, stinger suit hire, luggage storage, sleeping bag hire, linen hire, national park fee, food, insurance, accommodation, equipment hire, petrol levy, etc. We will alert you to extra costs to the extent reasonably practicable. However, you must also check with each individual service provider when you re-confirm your booking.

Do I need travel insurance?

We endorse the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that all travellers take out travel insurance. If you already have travel insurance, please understand that it is your responsibility to ensure that your travel insurance covers you for all of the adventure style travel you have booked with us.

Do you offer payment plans?

Absolutely, we understand that paying off a big trip in one go isn’t always that easy. We offer flexible payment plans to suit all types of travellers with zero interest or fee’s (minimum $100AUD deposit required).

How do I know if my trip is BYO?

Most tour vouchers will specify if your trip is BYO however we recommend asking your tour provider if your trip is BYO when you reconfirm your booking 48 hours prior to departure.
