Kakadu to Litchfield Highlights 4WD Overnight Camping From $845pp

Crocodiles, cascading falls, and 50,000 years of history. Kakadu in two days is everything the Top End promises.

Two days. One of the world’s great wilderness parks. An expert guide and a small group of like-minded adventurers. That’s the Kakadu Highlights Tour in a nutshell, and it absolutely delivers. Cruise Corroboree Billabong as crocodiles slide into the water around you, visit the sacred Ubirr rock art sites where First Nations stories stretch back tens of thousands of years, and take in the epic sweep of Arnhem Land from the escarpment’s edge.

Then go swimming in places that feel genuinely off the beaten track: the emerald plunge pools of Maguk, the cascading tiers of Gunlom Falls (seasonal), and the exclusive access rockhole at Ikoymarrwa. Camp at Mardukal Billabong, eat well, sleep under the stars, and wake up ready to do it all again.

Kakadu to Litchfield 4WD Highlights Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Corroboree Billabong, East Alligator River, Ubirr Rock Art & Mardugal Billabong Camp

Picked up from your Darwin accommodation between 6:30 and 6:45am, you’ll head straight for Corroboree Billabong for a wildlife cruise, an incredible chance to spot crocodiles and an extraordinary variety of birdlife up close in their natural habitat. From there, it’s into Kakadu National Park proper, with a stop for a picnic lunch near the East Alligator River where crocodiles and flying foxes are regular visitors.

Continue north to the world-famous Ubirr rock art site, where your guide brings thousands of years of ancient paintings to life. Climb to the top for jaw-dropping 360-degree views across the Nardab floodplains and into Arnhem Land.

Tonight, settle into your exclusive safari camp at Mardugal Billabong, right in the heart of Kakadu.

Accomodation: Shared permanent Safari Tents
Meals Included: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: Maguk (Barramundi Gorge), Gunlom Falls, Ikoymarrwa (Moline Rockhole)

Gorge), where a stunning plunge pool surrounded by steep rocky cliffs is your reward, well worth the effort. Head south through the park to Gunlom Falls, a large emerald-coloured waterhole tucked among eucalypt and melaleuca trees (seasonal). Then it’s on to Ikoymarrwa (Moline Rockhole), an exclusive-access gem that requires special permits, meaning you get the place largely to yourselves.

With the best of Kakadu ticked off, head back to Darwin, arriving around 6pm.
