Kayaking With Dolphins In Byron Bay
From $89pp

Look no further than hanging out in the surf with Byron’s biggest local superstars…

Explore the beautiful waters surrounding Byron Bay with a guided tour around the best beaches in the Northern Rivers. Meet some of the local superstars such as sea turtles, dolphins and whales. The team at Cape Byron Kayaks are so confident they’ll deliver you dolphins whilst out kayaking that if you don’t see one on your tour, you get to go again for free. That’s their dolphin guarantee!

This 3-hour ocean based adventure is led by experienced guides. When not out on tours, these salty sea dogs won’t be found far from the ocean. You’ll struggle to find a crew who froth on their job as much as these guys. Each character has a story to tell, so listen closely and you’ll learn the wonderful tales of The Bay.

Double kayaks make this trip perfect to do with a friend, your family, or fiancé. If you’re rolling on this trip solo, no dramas. One of the legendary guides will take you on board with them. Some say this is the best seat in the house. The legends at Cape Byron Kayaks offer two tour departures per day, so if you’re an early riser or a lazy Susan, they’ve got you covered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we always see dolphins?

We have a pod of around 300 resident dolphins who live in the Bay and are spotting on the tour approximately 90% of the time – so you are more than likely to see them! However, that does mean about 10% of the time you won’t – no worries though, this tour comes with a wildlife guarantee, so if you do not see any dolphins (or whales during whale season) you can join again for free! The free return tour does not expire and is non-transferable. There are no refunds for tours that do not spot wildlife.

When should we arrive for the tour?

You should arrive at 62 Lawson Street outside of the Cape Byron Kayak shed 15 minutes before the departure time. This way you’ll have enough time to complete your waiver, get changed, and get your kayaking gear on before receiving a quick safety briefing and heading out in your kayaks.

Is there a place customers can leave items whilst on the tour?

Yes – there will be containers that you can safely leave your clothes, towels, phones, wallets etc. This will be locked while you are on the water.

Does the tour go out if it is raining?

Yes – dolphins are always wet!

When is the best time to see the Humpback whales?

The Humpback whales migrate between June and November, and this tour is a great place to spot them as they love coming into the bay to swim around.

Can a non-swimmer come on the tour?

No – kayaking with dolphins takes place out on the open water and we do not recommend the tour for any non-swimming adults (please note that children can be catered for.)

Can customers swim with the dolphins?

No – there are strict rules about approaching wild animals in NSW. You can observe the dolphins from the kayaks and you will still be blown away!

Do I need travel insurance?

We endorse the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that all travelers take out travel insurance. If you already have Travel Insurance please understand that it is your responsibility to ensure that your Travel Insurance covers you for all of the adventure style travel you have booked with us.

World Nomads travel insurance policies offer coverage for more than 150 activities. Get a quote, make a claim, or buy or extend your policy while on the road.
