Cruise in the semi submersible for an unforgettable view of the colourful world underwater, and learn everything you didn’t know you needed to know about the Great Barrier Reef’s incredible eco system with a Marine Biologist presentation. See the giant clams, sea turtles, clownfish, sea cucumbers, and more, that thrive in this abundant ocean community. Then, take some time to relax on the white sandy cay and witness this natural migratory seabird sanctuary in action as hundreds of seabirds roam the sandy shores.
If you’re keen to try scuba diving to observe the wild colours of the coral from a whole new perspective, Michaelmas Cay’s shallow protected waters is the perfect place to add an introductory dive. A qualified and experienced instructor will be by your side to help you with every step of the dive, ensuring you to have a stress free, fun, and unforgettable experience.
7.30am: Check-in at Ocean Spirit’s counter inside the Reef Fleet Terminal for boarding passes
8:00am: Boarding commences. Complimentary tea and coffee served until departure
8:30am: Depart Cairns for Michaelmas Cay and the Great Barrier Reef
9:00am: Safety demonstration, reef brief and snorkelling demonstration
9:30am: Informative Marine Biologist slide show presentation
10.00am: Dive brief for introductory divers
10:30am: Arrive at Michaelmas Cay. Reef Activities commence: Fish feeding presentation, Snorkelling, Semi-submersible coral viewing tour, Scuba diving for introductory divers. (Dive session times are 11:00am, 12:15pm & 1:30pm)
12:00-1.30pm: Buffet lunch served onboard. Time to enjoy more Reef Activities!
2:30pm: Afternoon tea is served onboard

Cancellations after 6pm on the day prior to travel a 100% cancellation fee will apply.
Cancellations between 12 midday and 6pm on the day prior to travel a 50% cancellation fee will apply.
Cancellations before 12 midday on the day prior to travel no cancellation fee will apply.

Can I book a package but travel in the reverse direction?
Absolutely, just let us know your preferred start and finish location and we’ll make it work.
What is the best way to travel Australia?
There is definitely no wrong way. We recommend either taking a WHIMIT or Hop on Hop off bus pass such as Greyhound or renting a campervan with some mates and hitting the open road. If you feel like getting pretty adventurous and want to get amongst the true Australian terrain, a 4WD may be better suited for you. Enquire now and we can help you find the most suitable transport option.
What if something comes up and I can't make my tour?
We get it. Life is all about the unexpected, especially when you are travelling. If you are unable to make your pre-arranged tour you will need to reach out to our support email so we can give you a helping hand. In all cases we strongly recommend having a valid travel insurance policy which covers you for unexpected cancellations.
