Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to visit Sri Lanka?

The great thing about Sri Lanka is it’s usually quite hot all year round, so it’s great to go at any time. The seasons vary quite a lot across the country with the chance of rain across certain areas at any time of year. We cover a large part of Sri Lanka so you’re sure to get beautiful sunshine with a chance of rain all year round.

How much does a Sri Lanka trip cost?

You’ll be surprised with how cheap tours in Sri Lanka can be! Across 12 days, our tour includes all transport, stunning accomodation, some meals, an awesome tour guide and an awesome group of new friends to travel with.

How many days should I spend in Sri Lanka?

From years of experience operating in this beautiful country, we know 12 days is the most optimal amount of time to spend in Sri Lanka. This gives you enough time to see the absolute best of Sri Lanka, plus some epic hidden gems!

Do you need a visa to visit Sri Lanka?

Most nationalities require a visa or ETA (electronic travel authority) to enter Sri Lanka. This visa is typically for 30 days and can generally be done online. The cost is usually approx. $35USD. You will need at least 6 months remaining validity and 2 blank pages in your passport. For more information and visa updates please check the official Sri Lanka Government website.

How much spending money do I need for 2 weeks in Sri Lanka?

If you are doing an INTRO Travel group tour in Sri Lanka, all of your accommodation and transport are included, plus some meals and an awesome tour guide. A traveller can expect to need £300/$600 AUD/$370 USD spending money on top of the tour price.

Is it worth going to Sri Lanka for a week?

While a week can be enough time to experience the top sites and culture of Sri Lanka we usually recommend you stay a little longer, so you can properly enjoy all of the incredible things this country has to offer without missing anything. By joining one of our group tours we’ll fit as much into the time you have available as possible, with all the best bucket list inclusions sorted for you!

What is the best way to tour Sri Lanka?

A group tour that includes a balance of city and beach stays is the best way to see Sri Lanka! Having all of your accommodation, transport, activities and some meals already organised for you means you can fully enjoy the destination without any added stresses.

Is this the trip for me?

We stay at a mix of accommodations on this trip. From 4-star hotels that overlook the bussling city of Kandy and the famous Temple of the Tooth, to a stunning eco-retreat with incredible views, yoga, and a beach only a few steps away. We reduce our environmental impact at the eco-retreat for our 2 night stay by only using fans instead of A/C.

There are a few hikes on this trip to experience some absolutely breath-taking views, which does require an average level of fitness to reach the top. None of the included hikes are too strenuous and most people should be able to complete them without any issues.

To get around this jewel of Southern Asia, we use a private bus. Due to the infrastructure of Sri Lanka, most roads are smaller, two-lane roads and can lead to some slightly longer travel days. However, we break up the travel days by visiting some fascinating places along the way.

When should I arrive for my tour?

It’s best to arrive on the actual start date. This is when most people arrive. There are no activities on the first day but the group gets together in the evening for a welcome dinner at around 7pm. Sometimes people like to arrive a day or two before the trip starts so they can do their own exploring or just have a bit of time to chill before all the fun begins.

Are flights included in the price?

Flights to and from Sri Lanka are not included in the price of the tour and will need to be booked separately. However if your tour has an internal flight as part of the itinerary, then this is included!

How many people will be in my group?

Our groups usually have around 12-16 people on them, usually aged between 18 to early 40’s. We get people from all over the world on our tours, so you’ll get to bond with a wide range of travellers who all share that same passion for adventure! As long as you have an appetite for adventure and are happy bonding with people of all backgrounds, you’ll fit in perfectly!

How can I get in touch with my group leader?

You will receive a ‘welcome email’ from your group leader approx. 2 weeks before your tour begins.

What if I'm travelling solo?

If you’re struggling to convince your friends to join you on an adventure, you’re not alone!

Travelling solo on a group tour can be one of the most exciting ways to experience a new destination, and you won’t have to wait around for your mates to be ready. You leave yourself open to meeting amazing people, making new friends, and can keep yourself and your onward travel plans flexible.

The majority of our group members are solo travellers, so joining one of our group tours is a great way to meet people and make friends. Before your trip starts we’ll put you in touch with the rest of your group so you can start chatting and get to know each other. And after the trip a lot of people continue travelling with the new friends they’ve made!

What happens after my trip?

A big part of the INTRO Travel difference is our after-trip support. Your group leader will spend enough time as needed to ensure you are totally comfortable and confident with where you’re going next. And can help organise and book whatever you need, including any transport, accommodation or trips you may want. We’ll also provide 24/7 support and advice after your trip, and will always be there to help when you need it.

Do I need travel insurance?

Travel insurance is compulsory for all our trips. You’ll need to show proof of your policy to your group leader upon arrival (on your phone or printed).

World Nomads travel insurance policies offer coverage for more than 150 activities. Get a quote, make a claim, or buy or extend your policy while on the road.

We endorse the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that all travellers take out travel insurance. If you already have Travel Insurance please understand that it is your responsibility to ensure that your Travel Insurance covers you for all of the adventure style travel you have booked with us.
