Day 1: Welcome to Bangkok!

Arrive in Bangkok where your adventure begins! Take the first day to settle in and explore this bustling city. Meet the group you’re about to take on Thailand with and head out to a restaurant fave on the one and only Khao San Road!

Day 2: Kanchanaburi & River Kwai

Have you have seen the movie ‘The Bridge On The River Kwai?’ Well that’s your destination for today, River Kwai! First, head to the floating market to do some shopping and then, after browsing the stores, hop on the long-tail boat and head to Kanchanaburi. Jump on another boat and cruise down the River Kwai, taking in the view of the bridge— an ultimate insta-worthy shot. There’s no better place to watch the sunset than the River Kwai Bridge so get those cameras out and take some beautiful shots.

Day 3: Erawan Waterfalls

Today, head to the beautiful Erawan Waterfalls, a picture of paradise. This 7 tier, crystal clear waterfall is only an hour away from Kanchanaburi and will take your breath away. Make sure you pack your swimmers to take a dip and snap some iconic shots amongst the lush greenery. Enjoy lunch at the waterfalls before heading back to Kanchanaburi to chill by the pool. Later, explore the town before heading out for dinner and drinks with the team.

Day 4: Ayutthaya Ancient Ruins

Enjoy a free morning and choose to chill by the pool or explore the town before hitting the road to Ayutthaya. Visit this world heritage site and indulge in its rich culture and history. Hop on a bike to truly explore this ancient capital city and learn about the Kingdom of Siam (what Thailand used to be called!). Grab a bite to eat and then it’s all aboard for the night train to Chiang Mai. With your own bed, pillows, and covers, getting a decent nights sleep shouldn’t be too difficult. Wake up feeling refreshed and ready to discover Chiang Mai.

Day 5: Chiang Mai Temples & Culture

Check into your guesthouse located in between old and new Chiang Mai. Choose to relax by the pool or check out the oldest temple in Chiang Mai (right opposite the accommodation!) Later, visit the most famous and magnificent temple in Chiang Mai, Doi Suthep. Situated high up on the mountain, admire the jaw-dropping panoramic views of the city – you’ll feel like you truly are on top of the world! Spend the afternoon as you please before meeting up for dinner in the evening.

Day 6: Village Home Stay, Trek & Waterfall

Today is an exclusive tour that you wont find anywhere else, so buckle up for a day to remember. Head into the jungle of Northern Thailand for an epic trek that doesn’t require a high level of fitness but will certainly earn you a few beers when you arrive back to Chiang Mai. Admire the stunning nature, spot some native wildlife and even discover a waterfall or two. After this jungle adventure, head to your home for the night, a unique village homestay where you can experience what life is like for many traditional tribes living in Northern Thailand – what an experience!

Day 7: Elephant Sanctuary and Bamboo Rafting

Wake up in the jungle before heading back to Chiang Mai. Today’s form of transport will be a bamboo raft where you’ll float down the river and even see some elephants, a once-in-a-lifetime experience! After arriving back in Chiang Mai, rest up and get ready to continue the Northern adventure tomorrow.

Day 8: Jungle Zipline

It’s time to explore the adventurous side of Chiang Mai and there’s no better way to see it than from a birds-eye view. Get geared up and head for the trees. Tackle a few rope bridges and abseils before ziplining through the jungle, the ultimate heart-racing and adrenaline-pumping activity that’s sure to be one of your core travel memories!

Day 9: Head to Pai

After a busy and exciting few days, you can spend the morning reading a book, relaxing at the pool, or grabbing a cocktail. In the afternoon, pack up your bags and hop on the bus to Pai. This hippie town, only 3 hours outside of Chiang Mai, is a popular backpacker destination. With great food markets and cool retro bars, Pai will certainly be an exciting couple of days.

Day 10: Caves, Canyons & Hot Spings

Its time to explore Pai! Start the day with a visit to Thailand’s biggest cave, the Nam Lod cave. Hike through the main chambers before taking a bamboo raft along the river that runs through the cave – you’ll feel like you’re in a movie! After, head into the jungle and use a clay mask and relax at a hot springs heated by geothermal activity. Finish this awesome day at Pai Canyon to enjoy the most insane views of the surrounding mountains and jungle. Watch the sunset from this vantage point before heading back to Pai town. Grab dinner and a couple of beers and mingle with some of the backpackers also exploring this region.

Day 11: Chilled Day in Pai

Enjoy a chilled day in Pai. Choose to sleep away your hangover, lounge by the pool, play games, mingle with the other hostel guests or read a good book; the decision is yours! After a day recharging, head out for dinner and drinks and see where the night goes.

Day 12: Cooking Class in Chiang Mai

Head back to Chiang Mai this morning where it’s time to test your culinary capabilities. Become the new Thai Masterchef as you learn about Thailand’s traditional dishes and experiment in making them yourself. You’ll begin the class by heading to the markets where guides will show you how to pick the freshest ingredients. You’ll then be shown how to transform these ingredients into tasty meals and the best part is that you’ll be able to taste your wonderful creations at the end! Finish this experience with new recipes and skills to wow your friends and family at home.

Day 13: Chiang Mai Canyon

It’s time to head to Chiang Mai’s very own Grand Canyon – an old excavation site that’s now been transformed into a man-made lagoon (aka you’re very own adult playground for the day.) Hit the slides, floating chairs, and overwater zipline for a day of action-packed adventure. Even have a go at deep water soloing or wall climbing. Grab lunch at the on-site restaurant and in the evening, head out to Chiang Mai for a final hurrah.

Day 14: Travel Back to Bangkok

Checkout of your hotel in Chiang Mai and enjoy some free time to explore the markets, visit the local temples one last time, or relax by the pool. Hop aboard the overnight train to recharge and relax as you head back to the hustle and bustle of Bangkok.

Day 15: Bangkok by Tuk Tuk

Bangkok is awesome, and there’s so much to explore. Hop into a tuk-tuk and go temple hunting, seeing the iconic gold reclining Buddha at Wat Pho. Enjoy views of the city on a long tail boat drifting down the Chao Praya River, a really unique way of taking in the sights of Bangkok. Enjoy free time this afternoon to do as you please, whether it be shopping at the markets or sampling delicious street food. Meet back up for dinner and drinks at Khao San Road For another night on the town.

Day 16: Night Train to Khao Sok National Park

Enjoy a relaxing morning with a Thai massage and say goodbye to Bangkok. Today you’ll be boarding an overnight train that’ll take you to Khao Sok National Park. You’ll have your very own comfy berth on the train, and you’ll get to spend some quality time with your new mates. The scenery on this train going from the cityscape to the countryside and limestone mountains is definitely something you won’t forget any time soon.

Day 17: Khao Sok National Park

Once you’ve arrived in Khao Sok National Park, you’ll be taken to your floating bungalows via traditional longtail boat. What an epic place to spend the night! On the way, stop off at some gorgeous picture worthy sights and a quick dip in the cool water. From your bungalows, you can go kayaking or chill out with a cold beer on a floating tube, with the breathtaking backdrop of limestone mountains surrounding you.

Day 18: Koh Phangan

Start your day waking up in your serene floating bungalow, and maybe indulge in a refreshing dip in the freshwater lake before breakfast. Following a leisurely morning, travel towards Koh Phangan, an enchanting island off Thailand’s East Coast. Once there, head straight to Bottle Beach which is definitely a favourite among backpackers. This secluded gem is only accessible by boat, and offers pristine beauty and serenity. You’ll have the entire place almost entirely to yourselves, staying in cosy beach bungalows right by the water’s edge. Unwind on the beach or at the bar for the rest of the day. In the evening, gather around for a delightful beachside dinner followed by a captivating bonfire and fire show under the stars.

Day 19: Muay Thai Lesson

After a relaxing wake up call with the wonderful sounds of waves rolling on the beach, enjoy your morning and have a go at some fun activities on offer. Go kayaking, play some volleyball, trek to the viewpoint or simply relax in the sun. Then, it’s time for a Muay Thai boxing lesson! Thailand’s national sport, you’ll leave feeling strong, energised, and sweaty. Rinse off in the ocean and spend your evening enjoying the beachside bar and awesome atmosphere.

Day 20: Koh Phangan Boat Trip

Today it’s sailing time. Enjoy a boat tour of this magical island, stopping off for some beach activities and snorkelling excursions. Enjoy lunch on the island, soak up some sun, cool off in the water and spend time bonding with your travel mates. Get back to the island for a sunset dinner and drinks and an evening dancing on the beach to make the most of your last night in Koh Phangan.

Day 21: Beach Day in Koh Tao

It’s time to get the ferry to the beautiful Koh Tao, also known as ‘Turtle Island’. Recently voted best island in South East Asia, you won’t be disappointed by the gorgeous beaches and epic nightlife on offer here. Stroll to Sairee Beach for a perfect sunset and enjoy the evening with some drinks taking in the amazing vibe of this island paradise.

Day 22: Koh Nang Yuan

Enjoy a boat ride from Koh Tao to the adjoining and amazingly beautiful island of Koh Nang Yuan. Snorkel in the Japanese Gardens and trek to the viewpoint and lookout for an epic shot of the island below. Then it’s back to Koh Tao to enjoy another delicious dinner and exciting night out.

Day 23: Free Day in Koh Tao

Today is a free day to either soak up some rays or get active. You can get a taxi to Tanote Bay for a secluded beach chill out. Snorkel at one of the many beautiful spots or hike to the lookouts. Tonight you’ll be travelling on the overnight ferry and then private minibus to get you to your next destination, the famous Phi Phi Islands.

Day 24: Phi Phi Islands

Today can be as chilled as you like as you arrive in the Phi Phi Islands and take in the beautiful scenery of the laid back beaches. Take a trek up to the stunning viewpoint of the island below before a night out enjoying the epic beach bars.

Day 25: Phi Phi Islands Boat Trip

Enjoy a relaxing morning before hopping on board for an exciting boat trip around the islands. Stop at Maya Bay, the famous spot where ‘The Beach’ film was made. Then it’s off to Monkey Island and the Viking caves for more exciting adventures. Snorkel in the emerald waters, enjoy lunch on board, and watch an incredible sunset. Then, for a super unique experience, after dark you’ll go swimming with the phosphorescence – glow in the dark plankton in the water!

Day 26: Travel to Phuket

Hop on the island boat over to Phuket, the largest of the Thai islands where you’ll be spending your last night in this magnificent country. Explore the wonders of Phuket and Patong and enjoy a night out beach bar hopping and making the most of your last night in Thailand.

Day 27: Chilled Check Out

It’s time to wave goodbye to your travel group as you finish your trip in Phuket. Continue your onward journey or continue exploring the rest of South East Asia on another group tour. Lets hope its a see you later rather than a goodbye!

Cancellations more than 60 days: Loss of deposit.

Cancellations 60 days of less: 100% of trip cost.

Free airport pickup is provided if arriving less than 48 hours before the start of the tour and booked the pre-nights directly with TruTravels at the start hotel.

If you’re arriving the day of the tour you will also be eligible for airport pick up.

Do I need to reconfirm my bookings?

All bookings must be reconfirmed 48 hours in advance by contacting your tour provider directly using the contact information listed on your tour voucher.

What should I do if my trip is cancelled due to bad weather?

You may either re-schedule directly with the supplier or you can email our support team on [email protected] and include your voucher number, name of product you booked, planned departure date and your contact details. Once you’ve emailed us, you can drop us a line at +61 2 5633 1149.

Do you book tours with flexible dates? If so, how long are they valid for?

Yes, we do have open dated/flexible tickets available. Most tour vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of purchase, however please be aware that you may be subject to supplier price fluctuations. All ticket validity is specified on the tour voucher. If you are unsure of the validity of your voucher, just ask one of our wonderful staff.

What do I do if I need help with an existing booking?

Some tours have extra costs and you should be aware that there may be added expenses. These expenses will differ for each service provider, but some of the more usual extras are: EMC tax, stinger suit hire, luggage storage, sleeping bag hire, linen hire, national park fee, food, insurance, accommodation, equipment hire, petrol levy, etc. We will alert you to extra costs to the extent reasonably practicable. However, you must also check with each individual service provider when you re-confirm your booking.

Do I need travel insurance?

We endorse the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that all travellers take out travel insurance. If you already have travel insurance, please understand that it is your responsibility to ensure that your travel insurance covers you for all of the adventure style travel you have booked with us.

Do you offer payment plans?

Absolutely, we understand that paying off a big trip in one go isn’t always that easy. We offer flexible payment plans to suit all types of travellers with zero interest or fee’s (minimum $100AUD deposit required).

How do I know if my trip is BYO?

Most tour vouchers will specify if your trip is BYO however we recommend asking your tour provider if your trip is BYO when you reconfirm your booking 48 hours prior to departure.
