Begin with a visit to the Aboriginal Cultural Centre to learn about the traditions and living culture of the local Anangu people, then explore Uluru’s base on a guided Mala Walk to see ancient rock art and sacred sites. Continue to the Mutitjulu Waterhole, where your expert guide shares creation stories and the cultural significance of this special place. As the sun sets over Uluru, enjoy a classic Aussie BBQ dinner with sparkling wine while watching the rock change colour in the evening light. Starting from Alice Springs? We’ll collect you from your accommodation and head to Erldunda (home of the Emu) where you can purchase breakfast. Enjoy the scenic drive through the Red Centre with stops for photos.
For guests starting at Yulara, we collect you from your Ayers Rock Resort accommodation. Pick-up locations include Ayers Rock Campground, Desert Gardens, Outback Pioneer, and Sails in the Desert.
Visit the Aboriginal Cultural Centre built from 90,000 mud bricks with help from local Anangu people. Learn about the Pitjantjatjara people, explore exhibits, and browse authentic Aboriginal art and souvenirs. The centre sits on a sacred site with special meaning to traditional owners.
Head to the base of the majestic Uluru. Your expert guide takes you on the Mala Walk along the north-west side where you’ll see fascinating examples of Anangu rock art. Listen to ancient stories of the Anangu People and learn the cultural significance of this sacred site.
Please note: Climbing Uluru is permanently closed due to its cultural significance.
Travel by coach to Uluru’s back section for a guided walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole – home of Wanampi, an ancestral water snake. Hear stories of local traditions and discover how the Anangu people used this waterhole for hunting. See caves containing ancient rock art used by ancestors whose descendants are still alive today.
The highlight of your day! Take in a breathtaking Uluru sunset with a glass of sparkling wine (2 drinks per person included, BYO beer welcome) and enjoy a delicious Aussie BBQ dinner. Watch as Uluru transforms through stunning colour changes – from ochre to burnt orange to deep red. This is an unforgettable Australian experience everyone should have at least once!

After sunset and dinner, we drop off guests at Ayers Rock Resort accommodation. For Alice Springs passengers, enjoy the return journey under the stars (approximately 4.5 hours) with a comfort stop at Erldunda. We recommend bringing a travel pillow!

All activities are considered very safe and suitable for all age groups (2-99 years). The walks do not require a high level of fitness or agility. Both the Mala Walk and Mutitjulu Waterhole Walk are relatively easy, though proper walking shoes are essential as terrain can be rocky and uneven in places.
Yes! The tour is family-friendly and suitable for ages 2-99. Children will enjoy the guided walks, cultural stories, and BBQ sunset experience. The tour doesn’t require high fitness levels, making it accessible for young children. Just ensure they have appropriate sun protection, water, and comfortable walking shoes.

Yes, travel insurance is highly recommended. While all tour activities are considered safe for all ages and don’t require high fitness levels, insurance protects you against unforeseen circumstances such as illness, injury, trip cancellations, or weather disruptions. If you already have travel insurance, ensure your policy covers adventure-style activities if you’re booking multiple experiences during your Northern Territory trip. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade recommends all travelers take out comprehensive travel insurance.
Refunds will be processed according to the following time frames…
**Cancellation, Refund and Change Policy** **Cancellation by Customer** The Customer may cancel the Tour/Transfer/Private Charter and will receive the following refund: **Day Tours & Uluru Transfers** ● 4 days or more before the day of departure: your payment will be refunded less an admin fee of $20 ● Within 3 days of departure: reservation is non-refundable. The amount will be kept as credits valid until the end of the current season (the season begins on 1 April and ends on 31 March the following year). **Multi-day Tours & 2 and 3 Day Tour Packages** ● 14 days or more before the day of departure: your payment will be refunded less an admin fee of $50 ● Within 14 days of departure: reservation is non-refundable. **Private Charters and Transfers** ● 30 days or more before the day of departure: The deposit of 25% is non-refundable. The remainder of the full amount less the Deposit and any administration costs will be refunded. ● Within 30 days of departure: no refund will be provided but the amount will be kept as credits valid for 12 months from the start of the booked dates. *The administration costs include fees that may be levied by third-party operators providing their services in conjunction with the Private Charter, bank fees, credit card fees, booking fees and other costs associated with delivering the Private Charter or returning your money to you. In any event, if a Customer fails to join a Tour, Transfer or Private Charter, or leaves for any reason prior to completion, no refund of any kind can be made. **Changes by Customer** **Date change** Changes to the date of your Tour, Transfer or Private Charter can be made at no extra cost when made outside of the cancellation period stipulated in Cancellation by Customer above, but can only be made once per booking. Bookings can only be changed by contacting Emu Run Experience directly via email.
