How Much Does an Uluru Trip Cost? (Real Budget Breakdown)

By: [email protected] April 21, 2026
Uluru, or Ayers Rock, is one of Australia’s most iconic landmarks, right in the heart of the Northern Territory desert. Travellers from all over the world come here to catch the epic sunrises and sunsets, explore the massive rock, and get a taste of Aboriginal culture. But how much is a trip actually going to set you back? Here’s a simple breakdown so you know what to expect.

Different Tours You Can Book

We make checking out Uluru easy, fun, and totally epic. You can pick from quick trips or longer Outback adventures. Some of the most popular tours are:

  • 5-Day Outback Explorer – See all the Red Centre must-dos: Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon, Palm Valley, and the West MacDonnell Ranges.

All tours include transport, accommodation, meals, and an awesome guide sharing stories, history, and insider tips along the way.

Getting to Uluru

Uluru’s pretty remote, so getting there can be a bit pricier than your usual trip.

✈️ Fly: Yulara has its own airport (Ayers Rock Airport) with direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Cairns. A return ticket usually runs $450–$850.

🚌 Bus: For a cheaper option, Greyhound offers services from major cities to Alice Springs. While the journey takes longer, it’s a budget-friendly way to experience the outback and enjoy the scenery along the way.

🚙 Drive: Fancy a road trip? You can rent a car or campervan from Alice Springs for around $50–$160 a day.

🗺️ Guided tour: This is the most popular option for backpackers- no stress about transport, and you get to sit back, relax, and enjoy the Outback with a guide taking care of everything.

Park Entry and Extra Activities

To enter the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park you are required a pass, which costs $38 per adult and is valid for 3 consecutive days. If you’re on a guided tour with us, the park entry is already included in the tour price.

Extra activities such as guided walks (already included in the price on a tour with us), or Field of Light Experience ($129), Sunset BBQ ($159), Camel Express ($92), or Helicopter Flights are additional costs.

What’s Included In Most Uluru Tours?

Booking an Uluru tour makes life way easier- you don’t have to stress about organising transport, camping, or activities yourself. While every tour is a bit different, most include the essentials: transport, accommodation, some meals, and guided experiences.

🚙 Transport: Multi-day tours usually pick you up from Alice Springs or Yulara, then take care of all the long drives across the Red Centre. Less planning, more chilling and enjoying the scenery.

🏕️ Accommodation: Sleep under the stars in swag tents or permanent desert camps. Waking up in the Outback with a sky full of stars is an experience you won’t forget.

🍖 Meals: Breakfasts and dinners are often included, cooked at camp. Sharing meals with fellow travellers is a fun way to meet new people.

🗺️ Guided experiences: Local guides lead walks around Uluru, Kata Tjuta, and Kings Canyon, sharing stories about the desert, its history, and Aboriginal culture. You’ll learn about sacred sites, Dreamtime stories, and the natural wonders of the Red Centre.

Booking a tour means you can just sit back, enjoy the Outback, and tick off all the highlights without worrying about logistics.

Quick Travel Tips

Travelling to Uluru is an unforgettable experience, but preparation can make your journey even more comfortable. The desert environment can be very different from what many travellers are used to, so it is important to plan ahead.
